Lowered.........

Featured Replies

Just had the car fitted with -30 mm lowered springs, its definately lower, but I wouldn't say by 30 mm! is there some kind of 'settle' time? despite this I'm well happy, the ride isn't really any different but cornering is noticably improved.

It will settle slightly over time, but 30mm is hardly worth bothering, to be honest!

What springs did you get? If the Eibachs, I saw that they lowered only 20mm on a Mk2 Octavia

pictures pictures pictures..........please.

Are you saying that I'm not going to see anymore difference because 30mm isn't that much? Another member lowered their's 20mm and the difference was quite surprising. To be honest I don't care the difference is significant enough.

Thats why I decided against the Eibachs, I will probably get slated but I've used PI Springs, because they offered the -30mm opition and I've used them in the past with out any problems.

pictures pictures pictures..........please.

Pictures are coming, only just finished the big clean and its now dark(ish), I will take some tomorrow in daylight, haven't got any before pictures though, but I'm sure you will get the idea.

grammar issues

Are you running 18's ? Some pictures would be nice.

I think Shark_90 has his lowered on eibach's.

Sitting on the 19's he's got, it looks just right to me.

Very tempted to find funds for a vRS TDI, eibachs and a set of BBS rims :-)

Affirmative to the 18's, I think it looks a lot better, its not slammed, and the ride comfort is still there (which is important for swmbo).

The main reason for doing it - besides the obvious - when I brought the car the previous owner had fitted the wrong tyres 225 45 R18, so when I changed them to the right one's 225 40 R18, the gap between tyre and arch was quite huge!

Pictures tomorrow...........

Does eibach not quote 20mm lowerer than a vRS, so 30mm lower than a non vRS model.

I think I would go the eibach route myself.

Eibach is -20mm lower than vRS, PI's are -30mm lower than vRS, because I wanted it slightly lower than 20mm and having used them in the past, thats why I went the PI route, so far so good, but only time will tell.

Nice! Though I can't say it looks significantly different from the lowering effect of Eibachs...

Nope, I can't tell the difference?

but cornering is noticably improved.

Would you mind elaborating a bit more on the net effect of lowered and less compliant springs?

TIA,

Well... lower and stiffer = less roll, and better grip in corners.

Oh ****, now I wonder how on earth I could avoid buying them?

Thanks,

Between mine and standard??

Its only 10mm extra to be fair, and it will settle a bit more, most significant is the price though, the 50 quid I've saved has just gone towards an Evoms CAI kit......

Yeah!

I suppose it's not really for looks, more for handling at the level of lower.

Handling is the important thing

Jesus! are you looking at the same pictures as me? the standard vRS looks ready to do the Paris - Dakar rally, :D TBH it was for both, looks and handling!

I think the best pictures to illustrate are 2 & 6.

I notice the difference, looks great.

Just goes to show how much better a car can look if its little an inch or so lower !

Erm... nope?

I can't tell!

Nope, looks the same.

My FL Elegance has the even lower (allegedly) sports suspension with 17" rims and there is still plenty of air in the wheel arches.

Picture 2 and 6 look the same??????????? perharps I should redo them in braile

I've actually measured and the difference is about 27mm (approximately)! :D

Erm... nope?

I can't tell!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Mine looks a bit Scoutish on standard springs actually :(
