Well, that's the single player campaign completed in about 7 hrs. Downright depressing it was too.

And it's still installing.... :(

Serious ???

Mine didn't take that long

I stood in the freezing cold for 40 minutes at my local Sainsburys to get my copy on PS3 for £26 , opened the doors bang on 08.00 only let 10 x people in at a time and all the games were behind the customer services desk so you couldnt try to blag more than one copy .

According to the manager they are getting more stock in for thursday morning .

Very serious. It's on the "creating local game cache files" bit on Steam and taking funking ages.

Steam is all well and good for media-less applications, however WTF is the point when I've got a DVD!?

what a game!!!

love it

mine is slow with sky and they are not fixing it no matter what I call or email.

billy

can anyone help plz?

I am tryin to install COD on PC and it is saying that all files will be DL from Steam, but I have the DVD so why is it doing that? Is there a way of turning it off and jus usin DVD to install?

cheers

billy

Just remember the amount of data on a DVD can be between 4,7 & 8,5Gb.

So how much detail is on the disc & how much needs to be downloaded from the 'net is anyone's guess, a PS3 shouldn't have that problem as it uses BD discs, so it could have more or less instant access to between 25Gb & 50Gb on a single disc.

AWESOME is all I have to say. I'm on Act 3 Mission 1 (just started) and it's finally time for me to retire to bed. :D Loving the game so far, worth every penny of the >£40 I paid for it. Stupid pre-ordering!!

it had better be worth it as this is the worst game experience EVER, even beats ARMA 2! which was crap till 1.4 came out

I just cant find any info on how to just get it installed from the cd. it starts then goes online to DL it. over a day before its ready to play. WTF

Well you lot are evidently gheys for not playing on consoles, where you are up and running less than 2 minutes after yo've got home. :D Though I did install mine which took 15 mins of gameplay away. I'll live...

Close Steam, then install. Otherwise the installer hangs.

Just played it... seems more of the same as CoD:MW?

Now I know y ppl go for the crapsols,

specially now with this TOTAL RUBBISH system! the was nothing wrong with putting the hole game on DVD(s) and letting you install it from them, what If I wanted the game but didnt have internet? liek when I was on camp at brawdy bks? they would of lost a sale (no bother to them)

Ilove COD but if the rest are gonna be like tis then dont think Ill bother again. I am finally DL something so gonna leave it on now till tomoz. and see

so what do you do?

I have just gone thru it all and it kept saying server too busy, I dont understand it lol.

its been DL for 20 mins and its not even 1% yet

edit

now it is lol YEY

Great game online, dunno about offline I never play it (unless my BB goes down)

Can't believe the invite system on the PS3, how poor is it??

I had a few games with a mate of mine after many, many, many attempts and then could not reconnect to him, or anyone else, for the rest of the night.

Guess in 2 years IW never got round to sorting the server side :(

oOK been on all night and its only 32%

what the hell? anyone know how to stop this and get it to use the DVD?

wait I think I might have it.

di it normally then if it goes to install from the net, stop it all and reinsert the DVD1 and click Reinstall. that seems to be workin for me as the page I got is not one Ive seen before.

Serious? I've still not unwrapped mine yet - didn't have time last night! I'm hoping it's gonna be friggin ace!!

it is ;)

Erm... slightly underwhelmed so far...?

What Andrew means is he isn't very good at it :D

I'm thoroughly enjoying it but I've just died several times on the safe house mission so I've decided to have a break for a while.

For the people with the PC version , out of interest what sort of spec do you need to run this at a decent resolution and framerate?

I'm out of date with what constitutes a decent (but not bleeding edge) gaming rig.

Well I have got it, dont know why it always tried to DL it instead of use the DVD, to get it to use them you need to start install so you get past the steam stuff and let it start DL. then shut steam down EXIT it and re insert DVD 1 and as it autoplays select Re install. then it should install via DVD.

all good then.

Been playin for 1 hr and I think its ace. Hope they patch in the Lean thing so you can see round corners as in real life you wouldnt just go round would you? even if you cant shoot.

I have the following:

Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit)

Gigabyte 750SLi DS4 mainboard (140w, AM3 compatable)

AMD Phenom X4 9950 (2.6 GHz, 125w, AM+)

4GB Buffalow FirestiX (1066 MHz)

ATI Radeon HD 4890 (1GB RAM)

500GB WD Caviar Black HDD (32MB Cache, Sata 2)

22" LCD monitor

5.1 Logitech speakers

Nothing is Over Clocked. and I have just noticed I limited the CPU speed to 25% max last night so I could leave it on all night and I have just played the game MAXED with no probs at all. Even the ATI catalyst settings are max.

it is ;)

Awesome! That's what i like to hear:thumbup:

Oh, it is a brilliant campaign and generates more adrenalin that you'd believe possible. It's just depressing because of some of the scenarios and the way they play out. It's kind of 'the world is basically screwed, and everyone you know dies.' The set pieces are amazing though, and the new graphics engine is excellent for generating atmosphere and dramatic lighting effects. It plays like a very good action film, so the length has to be viewed in that context.

I was surprised that it was so short but I probably will replay it. I'm also quite surprised that I was able to buy the game and complete the 360 campaign before the PC version has even finished installing! Steam is a great platform but has a lot to answer for at times. The real bonus for me is in the Special Ops mode, which is a series of challenges based on game levels - mercenary hunting in the favela, metal gear style sneak missions, etc. As the levels go up the challenges become huge and it'll take a long time to get three stars on all of them :)

On a sideways note, having played the airport level I wonder how many of the newspapers actually played it before ranting about it being a terrorist attack planning level? Nothing could be further from the truth - I think it reinforces your opinions of what scumbags terrorists really are. You don't have to touch a single civilian, and I was gutted that I had to kill the guards to continue - there aren't any non-lethal takedowns.
