I was in an xbox party with my mate and I kept saying stuff like "wow" and "aweeeeeesome"... the campaign story is ace and my favourite level atmosphere wise so far was the oil ring one. HOW COOL are breaches?

Yeah ok, the graphics are better with the right spec machine but its just a total head**** when things dont work.

Oh, it is a brilliant campaign and generates more adrenalin that you'd believe possible. It's just depressing because of some of the scenarios and the way they play out. It's kind of 'the world is basically screwed, and everyone you know dies.' The set pieces are amazing though, and the new graphics engine is excellent for generating atmosphere and dramatic lighting effects. It plays like a very good action film, so the length has to be viewed in that context.

I was surprised that it was so short but I probably will replay it. I'm also quite surprised that I was able to buy the game and complete the 360 campaign before the PC version has even finished installing! Steam is a great platform but has a lot to answer for at times.The real bonus for me is in the Special Ops mode, which is a series of challenges based on game levels - mercenary hunting in the favela, metal gear style sneak missions, etc. As the levels go up the challenges become huge and it'll take a long time to get three stars on all of them

On a sideways note, having played the airport level I wonder how many of the newspapers actually played it before ranting about it being a terrorist attack planning level? Nothing could be further from the truth - I think it reinforces your opinions of what scumbags terrorists really are. You don't have to touch a single civilian, and I was gutted that I had to kill the guards to continue - there aren't any non-lethal takedowns.

The emotional connection you get with the game during the single player campaign is fantastic - when you hear over the com that one of the NPCs has been killed it does evoke a reaction. Yes , on the whole it's more depressing than the second (with a few nice "up" moments) but it had me totally gripped and I will definitley be playing it through on the next difficulty level up.

I didn't take the time to search for most of the enemy intel items for example.

It runs just fine on that, did the auto set thing and it set it all too the highest settings.

My mate is running it on an X2 athlon not sure what speed, with 2 gig of ddr and 2 x 7800 gt's and it working pretty good on that according too him, although not sure about what setting level it's at with that lot though.

Just replaying the campaign on Veteran now, and it's not quite as tough as I imagined it would be.. until you hit key points like the safe house, which are a nightmare on any level. The early level in the snowfield is an easy 25g achievement as long as you remember never to trust your oppo when he says 'I'll cover you' - always look around and hoover up first or you may end up running around a wall and headfirst into an enemy that he somehow didn't see.

Had a better experience with it last night.. some of the pacing seems a bit off though. Just little bits, where the NCPs are telling you to run, but you can't, cause you've gotta be all stealthy otherwise you get shot in the face. Lots.

I've been online with it this morning and had quite a successful session.

There are so many different rewards you can get this time round that it's much harder to keep track of what you have and haven't done and aim for them so I just shot everything with any weapons I could find and that worked nicely.

The robot sentry guns are damn good fun too

Well i haven't bought it myself yet (I'm hoping it arrives for my birthday in a couple of weeks) yet however we decided to mess with the son of one of my colleagues when his copy arrived in the post at work this morning.

As he's only about 11 and shouldn't be playing it anyway I feel ok about it.

His mum gave her approval so after a bit of photshopping the Call Of Duty Modern Warefare - Christmas Edition was born!!!

Boy do i wish we could see his reaction when he find out he's ordered the verion he'll have to wait another montha nd ahalf to play. Or tries to play the relabelled blank CD in his drive!

not impressed with the single player as it was way too short but the online play is much better than COD4

The single player is ace.

I not liking the online stuff yet really as it takes too long to kill enemy. I am finding myself getting the first few shots in but then they get me and kill me? WTF

cant wait till lvl19 so I can go in the HC ones!

Also I think there are a few problems with the game,

1. needs to patch in LEAN so you can lean round a corner before commiting.

2. needs to have fire rate for weapons. I personally dont want to go round everywere on FULL auto wasting ammo and missing the target due to the rising barrels.

3. the LSW is all wrong, In game iirc they have it as a 7.62mm weapon but it is a 5.56mm weapon and only comes with a 30round Mag not a drum! also the carrying handle on it is rubbish as it doesnt have on in real life. and the sights should be IRON sights not the silly ones they have put on it.

Must say tho that in the game they got it right with the SUSAT on it when you go in to get the baddy as Price goes to Afgan.

OH and before I forget, the way you make ready on the LSW is wrong too as I would say it is very hard to do that on this weapon, the way you do it is to take your left hand and go over the rifle while maintaining a firm hold on the pistol grip and make ready that way, not use the right hand.

spose that is the problem with actually having to use one lol
