Just finished the SP game last night, a few big moments, a few wtf moments, and I still don't understand the events in the submarine base? Still far too short though!

Looking at that video again, I'd say possibly the kid's autistic.

I thought I'd got a handle on that until I heard Price say 'good' over the intercom when the nuke launched. I wasn't sure if he'd actually launched it, or had just failed to stop it launching but didn't really care. I can only assume that he knew Shepherd's plan and had tweaked the missile to explode as an EMP blast rather than hitting the capital, but I have no idea why he'd want that.

Spoilt! :D

If you've not completed the miniscule campaign by now, you deserve it :)

Besides, I left out the bit with the mutant radioactive kangaroos and the black ops transvestite division. Got to keep some things secret ;)

Nah I know :D I've only played 5 or 6 hours so far though. At the start of Act 3.. hoping to finish off before Wednesday on Hardened :)

After thinking about it more, I think that's what's happened. It just doesn't really explain it enough?

I think you also control too many characters. I had no idea at some points who's eyes I was looking through!

I managed to squeeze a couple of hours in on Saturday night, got up to the bit with Price in the snow shooting guards and guard dogs ........... is there much more to come then?

Slotting the dogs is fun

Running through that town and over the rooftops with all the Chogi's chasing you, managed to croak a chicken or two.

Did you croak any toads?

There's an achievement for rapid chicken ventilation on the 360 :)

As for the different characters - it does get weird if you miss the brief banner on the tactical ops screen before each mission starts, where it shows the name alongside the location on the map before zooming in. I heard today that the Ghost character (who you never actually play) might be getting his own spinoff and I have no idea why. Admittedly his face mask was quite cool ;)

My thinking on the missile issue is that Price knew what Shepherd wanted to achieve through the attack on the US and also knew about the imminent Russian invasion, so wanted to shock the US into doing what Shepherd had aimed for all along but without the associated loss of life. The blast would put both sides on an equal footing through the loss of electronics, but the US troops would then gain some advantage due to being on their home soil. The following uprising would also help to stop Russia becoming the dominant world power, leaving Prices target (Makarov) with nowhere to run.

Ghost is getting a 6-part comic book :)

He's actually Rorschach from Watchmen

I thought he was Michael Aspel, and had hired Price to track down Makarov so he could present him with the big red book :)

 Nice!

Brilliant casting for Shepherd!

I thought it was Peter Andre doing it, and he was leading a special assault team into the jungle to discover that Makarov was actually his ex mrs, so they launched a nuclear strike to wipe the plastic titted munter off the face of the planet?

That's DLC I'd pay for - 'Tropical Munter Hunter - one small man's fight from the heart of silicone valley into the much-travelled wetlands of the southern hemisphere.'

Just completed it on Hardened on the xbox. AWEEEEEEEEESOME

Pfft - aim-bot!

Let me know when you're going for veteran level - I can pre-warn you of the bits where you're going to need something to bite on :)

My local TESCO had some available for £25 when you bought another game. So I got it on the release day.

It's horribly disripted my sleeping patterns.

I can guess, let me know if I'm right.

1. Shanty town level

2. Taking back the west wing

3. Just like old times

I got *really* confused. I swear I played the bit with the soldier who has burnt/cut hands and is stuck in some wreckage with v low ammo more than once.. can anyone explain why? :(

It's because it flashed back and forth between PC's... hence my above comment!

I bet you conserved ammo the 2nd time though ;)

Yup, they wanted to show you the EMP flash the second time just as you're about to get mulched by the Hind - quite a good suspense builder I think :)

The killer bits on Veteran are the ones where you're thrown into a supressing fire situation where you wouldn't normally hold your head up - the approach to the west wing is a killer, and it seems to be sheer luck whether or not you make it to the first checkpoint. The safe house isn't actually that bad on veteran because the AI tends to hold back more so you don't get the rushes that make it hard to prioritise targets, but the escape to the copter requires completely different tactics.

There's also a nasty bit in the mission where you've in the suburbs backed by the honey badger - if you die near the bridge, you're thrown right back into the middle of a gauntlet and will be perforated in less than two seconds. I only made it on the umpteenth time by hitting the deck and crawling behind another soldier as a shield, scrabbling into the bushes and laser designating a house on one side of the road. That cleared things enough for my guys to step forwards, and for me to then jump over the wall and sweep the other side from the back.

The shanty town is brutal, but fair - you need to be far more tactical and think about narrowing potential arcs of fire as you approach new areas. You'll last a few seconds if you try to run and gun anything so it's best to have a large capacity machine gun, and a decent scoped rifle and explore every possible vantage point before moving forwards. Just like old times is another level that seems easier in places because the enemy is more tactical, but there are a couple of really stick bits towards the end ;)

Oh, golden rule - NEVER pay attention to the info from the rest of the team. If they say 'I've got you covered' it means they may be standing right next to a tango without noticing them, and you'll get minced.

I hated the shanty town bit :(
