the thing about the cyclists is a joke i cycle regularly and have that arguement often with my friends, and yes i admitted i was driving to hard for the corner, i have known from the start it was my fault. just glad there was no one hurt.

anyone any ideas on my abs light??

could be an abs sensor, they are located in the hub carrier. i kinda broke mine and my abs light was on for a year but somehow it fixed itself and works fine now with no lights on the dash.

strange but true.

p.s. a new sensor is around £50 from skoda IIRC

well we all make mistakes simple as that

the problem i see from this is you have said that you are a good driver yet all the things you say actually say the complete opposite..!!!

also what makes you a good driver ??

i for one thought i was a good driver until i went on a few courses with our resident iam and rospa guys and trust me im no where near a good driver on the road. Tracks are completley different and doesnt take a great level of driving skill simple..

good luck and hope you get it sorted we all make mistakes:thumbup:

So you are aware that BEFORE this crash you didnt have ABS or the use of turning the TC system on? And you still drive it on the road? OMG.

You will be lucky to get in my car and see me with TC on, but id hate to think I didnt have the option for example friday night when it was throwing it down that bad.

You might have 203bhp, but by the sounds of it your IQ borders on a 1/4 of the same number!

As others have already said this really comes down to driver error. When you enter a corner or bend your speed should be relevant to how far into the corner or bend you can see and the stopping distance required.

Entering a corner that you can't see round at 70+ is pushing your luck a bit.

I would look at fixing the ABS problem before tidying up the bumper.;)

The ABS and traction control problem is most likely down to a faulty wheel sensor, they usually use the same sensor for their functions.

When an ABS sensor goes, it knocks out the ABS system and it takes the ASR with it as the ASR uses the speed sensors to work. Vagcom will tell you which sensor has popped and it is a relatively cheap part to replace, considering the fact it restores two primary safety features in the car.

Don't take this personally mate... You were driving like a bell end...

By your own admission 70mph + on slippery twisty single lane narrow roads.

You were lucky mate.... Hardly touched your car so stop whinging about that

and you're ok which is the main thing. Man up and fix your own car.

You screwed up... You pay up....

You may think I sound harsh... Let me tell you about Eugene.

Me and him were close pals back in our teens/twenties...

He would have been 34 now. He was killed in an accident involving no other cars.

He hit some black ice on a well lit dual carriageway that hadn't been gritted one cold

January morning. His speedo jammed showing 60mph. He didn't hit a fence... He hit

a lamp post. A week later I was helping to carry his coffin.

Grow up MR "Fast" Fitz... And slow down. Its a bloody road!

Not a racetrack!!

Honestly, people like you should take the bus. :finger:

Exibit A in the defense of the statement- Driving while using the phone

I wasn't defending the OP :o

grr666's quote was a joy to behold

It was such a contradiction in terms that it led itself open to one of those old exam questions where there was a short statement, just followed by the word 'Discuss'.

Maybe it's just my warped sense of humour that it didn't comeover how it should :)

I see where you are coming from now - it's a shocking phone if can't take a clearer picture than that

Well, after reading all the posts on this thread, I am asking myself, is this guy a 'PRATT', or is he just showing off that he has just had his first accident, its a total 'No Brainer'.

To have displayed on the back of your car 'FAST FITZ' says it all, I think he should change to, 'SLOW FITZ', or 'NOW HAVING A FITZ', or better still 'I AM A PRATT' 'Keep well Clear'.

I didn't notice in your photographs whether your L plates were still attached or not ?

Personally I think the Police should 'Throw the Book' at you for your total ignorance of attempting to drive a vehicle on the public highway as a 'Boy Racer'.

DB.

yes the tow bar was fitted on the car when i got it

Fair comment - maybe it should have been "Lucky I didn't kill someone/something/myself today

Are you suggesting it's gone OT ?

Damn... You beat me to it.... If you read through his replies

they don't really stand up to scrutiny...

Unfortunately, what we have here is a the sort of meat-head who

drives like a pillock most of the time with little understanding of the

potentially fatal repercussions of making a mistake... I'm a little saddened that

we all still have to share the roads with this little berk. His (alleged) 203bhp

Fabia should quite frankly be in more mature hands. The dodgy numberplate

shows a disregard for the law. I wouldn't be surprised if the OP wasn't properly

insured anyway as I doubt all mods have been declared. Thats the problem...

If you're unfortunate enough to encounter somebody like this in an accident.

And lets face it in the case of this fella that's quite likely then its going to be a

pain getting paid out. :(

The title says it all. I thought the Fabia vRS was not homolagated to have a Towbar fitted. There are no towing weights show for the vRS, only for non-vRSs. Your Insurance may therefore be Void. It has been discussed on here a few times.

What makes you say "as too question my driving ability, i would welcome anyone to come and teach me how to drive better, but firstly they will need to be a better qualifed driver than myself!" How many years have you been driving? Have you passed Pass Plus, the ADT (Advanced Driving), ARDS, or are you a Driving Instructor?

 @ the ironic company logo
Have you passed Pass Plus, the ADT (Advanced Driving), ARDS, or are you a Driving Instructor?

I'd question this bit... they teach you to pass the driving test, and not to actually drive.

Fast Fitz - you can't be that highly qualified as a driver otherwise you would have known that accelarating around a corner you couldn't see into properly at '70mph+' while steering and then braking (while cornering) upon seeing a hazard AND thinking it might be a good idea to give the handbrake a good ol' tug (ooh err!), Robert DeNiro style during the chase scene through Paris in Ronin was going end badly.

Have you ever heard of using the limit point technique when approaching a bend? It works on the principle that as you approach a bend in the road, you look for the point where, from your point of view (to the left of your lane for a right-hander or towards the centre line of the road, oncoming traffic allowing, for a left-hander), the two sides of the road (verge, curb, edge of tarmac) appear to join, this is the limit point, sometimes known as the vanishing point. If this seems to be getting closer to you, the bend is tightening up (so you slow down), if it is moving away from you, the bend is opening out (and you can adjust your speed to match it). It's difficult to explain the theory behind it, but, having not long completed an advanced driving course for my job, it is a technique that, when used properly, works well. There is an excellent explanation here: Corners - vanishing point aka limit point . It's written with motorcyclists in mind, but can be applied to driving also.

It's all about the tyre-grip trade off buddy!

Yes you are very lucky indeed. I would pay for it myself, and get this thread deleted. As not only have you admitted your speed, but your put pics up with you're plates on etc.

Fair enough, we all give it some on the roads we know well, but not at this time of year. Especially with all the rain we've had recently.

Friend on mine has crashed his Seat Leon PD130 a month ago, wasnt speeding but still with all the leaves etc it was too fast for the conditions. The leaves turned the road into a skid paid. Straight off road, front flipped the car down a 15ft drop, smashing into a tree and ended up on his roof, he was ok but his friend broke his collar bone. I'll ask him and see if its ok to post some pics up later on, after seeing the wreck and the state of his family after it, it slowed me down.

I agree with all your comments except this one.

This thread should not be deleted at any cost - it should serve as a reminder to anyone who might be tempted to drive in a similar manner

Just wait until I show the pics later, that will be more than enough.

+1.

I came down the same bit of road about 20 mins after my friend Eugene crashed his Mint Mk1 Golf CL. He and I were working at the same place and I encountered his wreck on my way to work. He died in his driving seat from massive head injuries caused by a biscuit tin full of tapes becoming a projectile inside his car upon impact.

His funeral was one of the saddest days of my life. His family was and still are destroyed by the accident. I'm not launching a personal attack upon Fast Fitz. But if the story of Eugenes death can prevent somebody else ending up the same way.

Then it means his untimely death did some good.
