Trying to enable some functions on a members FL octavia today almost all options were missing or modules say not ready.

Has anyone successfully enabled DLR, second fog light etc on an FL?

The only options were really to do with service intervals and autolocking - which the member had already set via maxidot.

Checked with my own Octavia, and all the options were there. :confused:

I asked for the 2nd fog light to be done at PDI and was told by dealers/SUK that it couldn't be done. DLR turned on by default (vRS) but switchable via maxidot. VCDS to be tried next week for the fog lights.

What are the 7 & 8 digits of the VIN? 1U or 1Z? If 1U - a microcan will not talk to the car.

I don't know what a "FL" means being that I am not in the UK.

FL is facelift of the MK2 Octavia, a MK 2.5 if you will. This should be a 1Z

Bruce, is there a reason why the 1Z isn't supported/works with a microCAN interface ? Is it something to do with the "BAP" protocal thing I keep hearing about in the new Octavia.

Several modules report as not ready, whilst others have all the bits with tick boxes, say 1-8, but nothing listed.

09 cent conv only shows some selection option (bit 3 IIRC) and 6 or 7 as country. The main drop down before using the long coding in 09 cent conv shows lots of options that all seem a variation on a theme (mostly to do with servicing).

Hopefully John99boy can shed some more light, as I and the other member had places to be, so didnt have too long to look at a facelift Octavia.

Microcan should support 1Z as the MK 2 octy is 1Z, the MK 1 octy is MK1.

Obviously people can use the microcan with the pre facelift MK 2 (1z) octy so its seems like it should be something none fatal.

I think it's less to do with the lead itself and more of a design issue with the FL's differing use of modules and convenience. A case where Ross-Tech will have to catch up with VAG's changes and work out where stuff has moved to, and how to address the controllers/modules

Whichever one you get told to use, be aware that the latest software isn't yet fully capable of changing all the things that it could do on the pre FL cars!

Yes the Hex-CAN works perfectly, however not all bit options in all controllers have been decoded yet.

I don't know I'm afraid mate, however I would expect the options once you're in a control module to be exactly the same. Perhaps the micro-can has trouble communicating with some modules?

So hex-can looks best then ? have there been any changes to the hardware lately and if so which is the latest/best. cheers - Stuart.

Hex-CAN is the top of the range interface, that's the one to get for forward and backward compatibility.
