egr blanking

Featured Replies

I know that there are companies such as Allard who make an egr delete kit but can you simply replace the gasket (i am currently running a 9 mm one) with a blank (i.e. no hole)? Not withstanding the fact that the light will need to be mapped out. Many thanks

My Fabias eml was on for a while, then a mate of mines put a bolt and a screw in the two pipes u disconnect off the EGR valve and the light went off

If i can i'll post pictures tomorrow of what i mean. But it's probably worth a try if ur EML comes on. I run an Allard EGR Removal pipe

Cheers - no thanks button!!

Ye I know what you mean - like the golf tee mod.

I think the Allard pipe might be the way to go. I guess if I get the light mapped with a solid gasket in I can add an Allard pipe after. Nice kit on ebay with catch tank too item number 170413521650 - says vRS kit coming soon

Edit - line spacing seems to be working now

Depending on the year of Car you can just disconnect the Egr & the Cel will not illuminate...As far as i am aware, Approx upto 54 plate does not monitor the Egr/airflow & from 54 Plate & above does & will illuminate the Cel,

Although even then it is not always on as it is only used on light/part throttle.

When I first fitted my allard the cel came on. Now with the bolts and screw which my mate put in my cel is now off and hasn't came back on

My cars an 05 plate

I take it you have just blanked off the two vacuum pipes ?It will come back on at some point, Some take longer than others Etc, Mine is on & off, It is triggered by increased airflow over the Mass Airflow sensor.

Can you take some pictures of what you've done plaese. cheers

My MAF is goosed, felt it go completely tonight coming down the motorway and my CEL is on as a reult of it :(

Yeh i'll have the bonnet up tomorrow anyways so will take pics of the vacuum pipes blocked off

My mate had an Allard EGR pipe on his Bora PD150 and when he blanked off the vacuum pipes and cleared the cel with vagcom it never came back on. My car doesn't flag up an EGR fault on Vagcom either, the only fault it flagged up when checked just the other night was the MAF. But every engine/cars different so will see if the CEL stays off once the MAF is replaced

I have a Jabba bypass pipe with boost take off, car is a 54 plate and CEL light is firmly on! blocking the vacuum pipes did nothing so Im getting the CEL light mapped out when I go for the stage 2 map.

when my turbo was swapped (2005 '55 Ibiza TDI) Ally had a couple of gasket shaped blanking plates made up to block the egr, until it was mapped out the CEL was on and when the fault code was cleared with VagCom how long it took to come back on would vary from straight away to 50 miles

My car even with the cel on never showed an egr fault. I'll be getting a map shortly so it'll be mapped out regardless as I hate looking at it lol

provided my new maf doesn't turn it off again
