Blower speed increases in reverse

Featured Replies

Here's an odd thing on my 2004 Fabia vRS. When I shift into reverse with the defroster running, the speed of the blower increases. I know there is a reversing light switch, which illuminates that lamp, and there is also a connection to the rear wiper which will make a swipe if the front wipers are on. But I would expect the extra "load" of the lamp to decrease the blower speed - not increase it. Anyone else notice this? It's not really a problem - just a mystery.

That'll be re-circ. coming on... :D

...to stop you sucking in exhaust gases!

The wiper comes on too, so you can see out of the back window!

Heater shouldn't have anything to do with it, by the way...

Me thinks we need an RTFM section. Only kidding. Some cars even adjust the wing mirrors for you in reverse.

It's normal, they all do it.

What do the mirrors do? Can't say I've ever noticed them do any thing when I reverse?

Nothing an the Fabia.

On posher cars (dunno if any Skodas do it or not) then the passenger side mirror aims down so you can see the curb when reversing.

Or see the tarmac because you're a mile away from the kerb if you're anything like the plonkers that park on my street.

Thats so they don't curb their posh-car wheels!

As long as alls well in their world, screw everyone else! *roll eye smily*
