SMS Gateway software/appliance

Featured Replies

Yo.. another IT related question from me.

Can anyone suggest a decent, reasonably priced SMS gateway software?.. it only needs to be able to send SMS's out and no need to recieve.

As we are getting more and more separate tools for monitoring different parts of the infrastructure, we need something a bit more flexible.

Ideally it should be able to scan a mailbox and scrape emails for certain words and send SMS's out based on that...

Also (i dont know if its possible) to have it set up as a modem interface on a remote machine?? - SCOM2007's SMS interface will only send through devices setup as a modem on the local machine..

the main bits of software that will need to work with it are: SCOM2007, Netapp OpsMgr, Nagios, WhatsupGold.

Thx in advance

A friend of mine has a company doing exactly this, I'll forward his contact details to you :)

Oh just to add another pre-req is something that can use a GSM modem rather than being a 'net gateway

Ah right, not sure about that. I've PM'd you Craig's details anyway :)

A wavcom unit and chosen sim card?

What are the needs?

I'll be honest and say we used to run an old nokia mobile phone via a data lead, with a power adapter in and just send them via the scripting interface.

Change the battery once every so often and you have it working even if you lost power :)

These days I think most people just use a GSM card in a server.
