Favorit - Codgered Fuel Gauge

Featured Replies

Hello.

My brother has a N registration Favorit silverline hatchback. Recently the rev counter wasn't working properly so we took the instrument panel our, greased the connector and put it back together again. The rev counter now works a treat BUT the fuel gauge isn't working properly. When you turn on the ignition the fuel gauge goes straight up and there is definately not a full tank or fuel.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong here. It would seem that it's something to do with the fact that we took the instrument panel out - could we have damaged the fuel gauge or even the PCB on the panel? Or maybe shorted something out? I don't mind buying a replacement part (any ideas where to get old Skoda parts), but it's knowing which one ...

Thanks in advance, D.

Ahoj,

The fuel gauge on my old Favorit gave strange readings, never did get around to doing anything about it,

I just got used to it and made allowances.

However - for parts check out S4 Imports (web address below). Not only are they good for stock and fair on price, if you explain the problem to them - they might be able to point you in the right direction with a solution.

They did for me - several times...

Good luck...

It sounds like something is shorting out , maybe a wire has been moved and is touching something metallic?

sorry this late and if you have already fixed problem but you might want to try the tightness of the 8mm nut which holds the fuel gauge onto the printed circuit board i had the very same problem the other week tighten nut and bobs your uncle it works again.
