Just had my renewal through for car insurance, bit shocked with the increase to be honest, can anyone recommend somewhere that is mod friendly?? to give you an idea, I've been quoted £470, thats for me and the wife, 36 & 30, full no claims, the car is a MY2006 vRS estate, Angel Tuning remap, Evoms, and lowered suspension.........I was previously paying £328!!

admiral are looking good for me, whilst getting quotes for a hopeful new order.

Adrian Flux for me

£350; 4 years NCB – protected; 37 yo, E17 postcode; parked on the street; all the mods below, but I am limited to 5,000 miles a year. £400 for unlimited mileage

What happens if you go over the 5,000?

Dont forget that there is a postcode price structure as well.

Here in West Yorkshire we pay more than most!!! :S

But jigger72 is in one of the worst postcodes. I know 'cos I am just up the road!!

Give Graham Sykes a shout - they beat all the usual mod-friendly contenders, some of which gave truly shocking quotes :)

To be fair, as a main stream insurer Privilege were within £20 of Sykes but wanted a £750 excess.

Harrogate HG2 post code is very desirable, helps with low insurance costs

Timmyboy, are you insured with Sykes? if you don't mind sharing, how much is your premium?

Wish my insurance was only £470

Try telling 'em you use your car for business use, 30000 miles a year and have 6 points on your license... Oh, and there's no no claims bonus 'cos some oik crashed into the company chariot that the VRS is replacing meaning I can't even get a letter from the fleet manager to say I've been claim free for any length of time....

Currently looking at quotes in the region of £1200 a year upwards :-)

Just seen this so sorry for tardy reply.

Basically, if I go over 5,000 miles, I'm not insured. I just have to keep an eye on it and pay the difference for unlimited mileage if it's looking like going over.

But even with a drive to the Loire Valley in September, I think I'll just be under the limit by renewal time :smirk:
