VRS 2.0tfsi Cutting out

Featured Replies

As subject...starts, then just cuts out when at traffic junctions at idle. Have to keep blipping throttle to keep it going....sometimes it runs for a few minutes at idle - sometimes not. Also when just cruising (eg 4th gear / 40mph), very occasionally feel it pull like it wants to cut - but keeps going...

It's probably due a service in about 2k miles....

Not had anything before like this - it's 2 years old - 40k on the clock....

Any advice would be appreciated!

patchy

is it standard?

Yes - standard spec - nothing added - unless santa has added an extra 70bhp I don't know about emoticon-0105-wink.gif

Sounds like a similar problem I had. Garage cleaned out the throttle body which was full of cack and it has been fine since. Quite common, I found out about it on this forum !

im guessing the 2.0TFSi doesn't have an idle control valve, but If any one can correct me and tell me it has, thats the first thing id be looking at

Leak issue.

Check hoses and diverter valve attached at turbo.

Did anyone get to the bottom of this issue as my 2009 2.0 TSI vrs is doing exactly the same. Only has 18k on the clock, but has a BSH induction kit fitted. Gonna put it on VAG-COM now to see what errors come up. Just what i needed as not sure if im gonna be able to take it up to GTI International tomorrow now :(

Hi did you manage to identify the cause of the 'cutting out' 'stalling'?

I to have the same problem, the car has been fine for the past 2 yrs and now just after a big service it has started to stall at idle and when not under load at low rpm?

The skoda dealer which serviced the car has said they think it's the HPFP ? Which seem strange to fail now? And have quoted quite a bit for replacement.

I have trawled the forums and have seen others have had similar stalling problems which have been resolved by:

1- replace low fuel pressure sensor mounted on the HPFP

2- replace crankcase breather and PVC valve

3- clean / de-gum throttle body

Please could you let me know how you fixed your issue?

Thanks Rob

Agree with Jonis that its most probably gonna be a boost leak. Ive had the problem on mine for a while and managed to pick up a few MAF's on the cheap which can sort the issue for a while but found that they fail eventually and the car goes back to cutting out about 1 in 10 drops to idle. Im sure i have a boost leak and have a full set of silicone hoses and aluminium pipes to replace the restrictive pancake pipes and an S3 intercooler to fit, but just havent had the time. Will have to sort myself out and get it changed over and have got a brand new MAF waiting so hopefully will fix the issue. Sorry i cant help more on this one mate
