Thinking of getting a VRS TDI

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Im new to the forum and thinking about getting a VRS TDI either the mark 2 or the new mark 3 ?? if that exists as I've seen the new shape now in the vrs. The mark 2 has 170 bhp, but if the mark 3 exists how much bhp does it have ?

Thanks.

The new shape is known as the facelift. The front and rear lights/bumpers and grill were updated together with some internal updates, better radio etc. Other than that, it's still a Mk II and thus engine specs are identical.

Hope that helps.

Mechanically the Octavia 2 CR 170 is exactly the same as the current model, commonly referred to as the FL (facelift) which was released in April 2009 but only recently starting to come through.

The main changes are the front wings, headlights and front spoiler with revisions to the dash layout.

Wheels are also different

No, they don't all come with Maxidot. It's an option you specify

In my view the most desirable RS is the in-between model of 2008, where the outer looks where pre-FL and the dash was already FL - this is the perfect car to me as I don't like the frogeyes on the FL-model.....

It's all a question of taste, though....

Yes - you need to look carefully at the model you're getting. Skoda took a piecemeal approach to facelifting the Octavia, in (I think) the following order over several months:

1 CR diesel engine instead of PD

2 New dashboard

3 External facelift

4 Deletion of spare wheel as standard.

Mine is an April 2009 vRS estate with (1) and (2), not (3), which I can live without, and mercifully not (4). The one thing I'd have liked would have been the Maxidot which mine doesn't have.

New facelift also now comes with XDS for better handling.

Maxodot is standard if you specify a DSG box

Just a few things I want to make clear, what is the difference between PR and CR diesel engines?

The non-maxidot display is the new display isnt it, which was displayed in someone elses topic on the forum about fl maxidot/ non maxidot pics? The non maxidot display is better isnt it ?

The DSG gearbox what is the difference ?

Thanks.

Depends on when you ordered your DSG. It was an optional extra when I ordered mine which annoys me a little if it's standard now... Especially as I'm still waiting for delivery!!

Isit only the facelift 2009 onwards which as the non maxidot display?

The CR engine is a lot more refined than the PD engine, and is a lot more linear in its power delivery. They both have the same power and torque, but the emissions and economy on the CR are slightly better.

After owning both, IMHO the CR is a vastly better engine.

No - the prefacelift vRS came without maxidot unless it was specified as an option.

Mine is a 58 reg car with the Common Rail engine, DSG box, but for some reason without dual zone climate control, jumbo box, and rear electric windows.

I have fitted some anthracite 18" Zeniths to it and had cruise control retro-fitted.

How much were you hoping to spend on your new car - feel free to PM me if you want
