Wigan council are a bag of S****. Gritting only main routes. no bin collections now for a month. Bin men collecting ONLY two black bin bags tommorrow. NO paper or brown bin collections. I'm going to ask for a rebate and see what happens.

Not happy here either.

Gritting the roads in my town during last weeks extreme weather warnings? Did they boll.....

I think the suggestion of it being "static" isn't to say it hasn't gone up, but the increases are in line with the increasing costs of providing the same service.

Rob.

nope static it is, our Council tax has been frozen for at least 3, maybe 4, years.

Not the same for the level of service mind you

Not sure where you are but the Scottish Government struck a deal with all councils to freeze council tax at 2007 levels. Mind you I pay over £2k a year.

They performed pretty well here, gritters did the main roads, the mini ploughs did the footpaths and then they spot hired 20 JCBs to clear the side streets. To be honest since it stayed below minus 5 for the best part of 3 weeks grit would have been useless anyway. Snow is now starting to melt, we just have massive piles in the gardens where the JCBs dumped it. Kids have built a mini ski / sledge slope on them

You'll still be waiting for it in 2011 and then they'll slap you with arrears and court costs if it's not paid. Winning isn't an option.

There's going to be a sh*tload of road repairs to do when the good weather arrives.

Many of the cheap pothole patch repairs done in Harrow have simply disappeared, leaving even bigger chasms to be filled.
