Uniroyal Rainsport vs Eagle F1's?

Featured Replies

From what I've read it appears the new asymmetric Eagle F1's are just about the best out there, but was looking for feedback specifically from Fabia users?

The tyre size I will be using will be 225/45/17.

I am currently running Toyo T1-R's on my 16's but they are a load of crap in the wet.

Hmm well my last set of tyres on my car were Eagle F1's, shocking in the cold, and ok in the wet. Toyo T1-R's that are on there at the moment, are so much better. They have handled the 'Ring, motorway trips, Welsh mountain blasts, and recently handled this cold weather very well. Dry I would say excellent, and wet, easily better than the Eagle F1's. Thats on 16's.

Uniroyals ftw! Ive had mine on for a couple of thousand miles and i'm very impressed i'd say they are as good in the wet as the toyo px4's i had previously were in the dry! Theyre also much better than the eagle f1's that swmbo has on her Vrs.

was that the Eagle F1 GSD3? not the same tyre as the Asymmetric

You will struggle to get a better gripping tyre than The Uniroyal Rainmaster in the wet. Dry grip is also excellent.

Would I be best sticking with 215's?

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric - 225/45/R17 - £91.90 each

Uniroyal Rainsport 2 – 215/40/R17 - £79.10 each

Are the best prices I've found so far.

Nope they were the asymmetric ones.

Si.

If you want to run 17s on a Fabia you should use 205/40/17s. Use this http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to find an alternative to the standard 205/45/16 and you'lll see what I mean - 225/45/17s will be way too big for a Fabia

I've just put 4 Rainsport 2 on my vRS (£366 incl.) & they have TRANSFORMED the car ..... They are fantasic in wet, dry, grip, braking, VERY quiet compared to my old Conti's, MUCH smoother ride PLUS a lot of those niggling little clonks & clunks have gone. Haven't pushed them too hard on the twisty stuff, but suspect they may roll a bit more than the Conti's did as the sidewalls are supposed to be a little less rigid.

When I brought my Fabia Vrs in October last year it had the Eagle GSD3s fitted. After reading many reviews of them,I fitted the Rainsport 2s on the front as the Eagles were worn and also having read poor reviews of them in the cold and snow. So far I have been very pleased with the Rainsports on the front during the last couple of months poor weather. They do feel a little softer when cornering but nothing to worry about and also feel ok in the dry.

I drove my mates Scooby with Rainsport 2's and in the wet they were outstanding, however, given the extreme performance (360bhp) and size/weight of the vehicle I found them a little uneasy in the dry. The open tread pattern which gives the excellent wet grip seems to squirm under extreme loads. On a smaller, lighter and 2WD car though I would think they would be very good.

I have spoken to many people recently who have tried the Vredestein Sessanta's and in comparison to previous experiences with F1 GSD3's, Toyo T1R/S's and a few other respected tyres they are very well thought of, and reasonable on price too.

I have goodyear eagle f1 gsd3 on the front and they handle excellent in the dry and IMO better in the rain. Also coped with the ice and snow just fine.

Ive aslo got Barum Bravuris 2 on the back, which were on the front and I found them great for the price.
