Panel Filter & Air Intake

Featured Replies

That part number is correct - see here :D

The vRS shares the same filter with the 1.4 8v. 1.4 16v uses a different filter cos the airbox is integrated with the engine cover......silly design :finger: :thumbdwn:

Since I fitted the Green panel filter I sometimes hear a soft "air-sucking" sound under hard acceleration... is that normal?

Should not be....sucking sound means that your box is not properly sealed. THe net effect after fitting a GREEN filter would be a low growl on higher revs.....not a sucking sound....the sucking sound is due to the airbox not properly sealed......its like a vacuum box not properly sealed........ :D

Hmmm is that a real problem then? Car runs fine though. I cannot notice any real changes after fitting the filter. It might be a bit smoother throughout the revs, but I 'm not sure.

It's not that I hear it all the time.. it's quite rare, and then only for a few seconds.

I had quite a struggle fitting the Green filter. It seemed like it was just a bit too small for the air-box. It looks good from the outside though, all screws are nicely secured an all.

I'd never had any problems fitting the filter on mine....i've since taken out the airbox & fitted in a Twister ( this is a monster !! ) Sounds like you have a case of a mishaped airbox.....**** happens !! GEnerally you do not get leaps and bounds from adding in a performance filter, but what u describe is very normal....u get smoother revs up the rev band ....especially from 2.5k upwards........
