Cornering Lights

Featured Replies

Hey Folks,

Does anyone know if the cornering light function is installed but unactivated on cars that havent had it "speced" and thus turnonable, plus is it worth it if it is?

Ta,

Steve

Yes they can be activated easily if you have access to VCDS, As to is it worth it.........Passemoticon-0124-worried.gif

I got them because it was only Aus$200 and the wife's S3 doesn't have them. :-)

I have no idea whether they are able to be turned on via the firmware but really I think that they are a bit of a novelty. When you are driving at under 40kph at night and you turn the wheel left or right the applicable fog light comes on. That appears to be it. Turning the fog lights on manually would do the same thing.

You can activate that option in VCDS as already mentioned.

It then produces the same thing.

But, You'd be in contravention of the RTA in the UKemoticon-0149-no.gif

Yup. I'm in folkestone if you fancy a drive :p

Oh and the car has to be a 57plate onwards iirc.

Mine is a 07 plate and i don't have the controller for it but later cars do.

Don't know of anyone with a 07 plate that has it. However mine was built in Jan 07 so if you got one that was built maybe June 07 then you may have the controller.

the bestie is a month old so should be no problem. Folkstone is a bit of a jolly just for the lights, I might have to get a list of what else I could activate thats fun :)

Emergency Braking Hazard Lights

Coming Home/Leaving Home Headlights (if you don't have auto lights)

Anti-Hijack (if no maxidot)

Twin Fog Lights

There's some food for thought ;)

Carl

If you have Maxidot most of the options are accessable through that, If not there's a few bits and bobs that can be activated

Carl, Twin fogs on an FL are a no can do!

Definitely worth it

No it won't as each sides fog light fades in & out depending upon how much you're turning the steering wheel

No maxidot here, the car I fancied was in country already and thus I didnt have the 4000 week wait and 2.5% extra VAT :) Donwside - no extra toys.

Does fiddling with the functions via the VCDS void the warranty or get taken off again if the garage needs to fennet about with my ECU?

I gotta ask, whats anti-hijack? Does it enable a large build man in a suit and dark glasses to sit in the back of my car? :)

Auto locks your doors as you start moving

Lol, locking your doors as u start moving prevents hijacks? Would have thought it was more likely when you are stationary. Then Jake and Elroy spring out :)

The Anti hijack function locks your doors once you go over about 10mph.

That way when you pull up at a set of lights no one can just jump in the car.

I can also enable auto unlocking so that when you stop and take key out of the ignition all the doors unlock.

I can enable a beep for locking the car and a double beep for unlocking aswell

As has already been said fettling with VCDS does not void your warranty. Well unless you wipe the whole coding of the car and nothing works :giggle:

Carl

I didn't think the twin foglights trick worked on the FL OCtavia otherwise I'd go for that

Didn't realise the Emergency Braking Hazard Lights and Coming Home/Leaving home could be done and would be interested in getting those two done to mine

I have maxidot and have already activated the Anti-Hijack feature and the auto unlock when I take the key out through that...

Think I need to get to a meet soon and take some beer tokens with me....

Is there a code you can enter that fills my boot with a spare wheel and jack? :)

I bet the Skoda dealer has a code for that in return for several purple peices of paper :giggle:

Well if you get to a meet and dont lock you're boot..... ;)

On my Octavia L&K, the turn lights are the dipped beam lights. They are the xenons. They each have an electric motor that physically turns the light at lowish speeds when you turn round a bend.

(Edited to remove bi- as they aren't, I mistyped.)

Ah, I've also got the car set so only the drivers door unlocks unless I press the button on the remote twice.... So that's the boot sorted :)

They look to be done as standard (p197 of the manual):-

The brake light flashes automatically in case of an emergency braking at speeds

greater than 60 km/h or with the intervention of the ABS, which lasts longer than 1.5

seconds. After the speed was reduced below 10 km/h or the vehicle was stopped,

the brake light stops flashing and the hazard warning light system switches on. The

hazard warning light system is switched off automatically after accelerating or

driving off again

They look to be done as standard (p197 of the manual):-

Ok, so maybe I need to pay more attention to the manual :S

Guess I need to find a quiet stretch of road and try it out...

Bugger, another cunning plan required :)
