Cornering Lights

Featured Replies

On my Octavia L&K, the turn lights are the dipped beam lights. They are the bi-xenons. They each have an electric motor that physically turns the light at lowish speeds when you turn round a bend.

Thats not the same thing and I'm afraid you only have single xenons in your L&K!

Edit = Typo!

Thanks "John Diesel 999 boys love". You're right of course, and I knew that. Ooops! I've already posted in another thread that it is a frustration of mine that the main beam is not xenon. My only excuse would be stupidity and writing bi because there is one at each side! :giggle:

Going back to the anti-hijack function how do you enable this in Maxidot ?

I had cornering lights activated for a very short period of time, and promptly had them deactivated !

In the pre-facelift Mk 2 I could hardly tell any difference when the fog light came on. I do though think it probably annoys the driver in front of you. I was being followed by a Merc 4x4 the other morning, and I couldn't see the point in the light coming on at every sharp bend we came to.

Yup. I'm in folkestone if you fancy a drive :pOh and the car has to be a 57plate onwards iirc. Mine is a 07 plate and i don't have the controller for it but later cars do. Don't know of anyone with a 07 plate that has it. However mine was built in Jan 07 so if you got one that was built maybe June 07 then you may have the controller.Carl

Did it on mine and disabled. SMS had it too. Ours were built around March 07.

Yup, if you have xenons you cant enable fog turning as well IIRC

Oh yes you can but maybe not on VAS and certainly not on maxidot.

I'm not sure how long xenons have had AFS II but it doesn't stop VCDS being able to add cornering fog lights.

Hey Folks,

Does anyone know if the cornering light function is installed but unactivated on cars that havent had it "speced" and thus turnonable, plus is it worth it if it is?

Ta,

Steve

If it's same as on Mondeo ( as in the Titanium, i hired) - I found it usefull ,especially in the likesof housing estates -picked up the pavements nicely.Sort of gives you light in the bits that normally are unlit .As to whether it's worth paying a stealer -pass

From Memory it's in the Setup --> convenience menu in Maxidot. My car is 100 miles away or so but I can check when I get back to it on Saturday...

Ok, so maybe I need to pay more attention to the manual :S

Guess I need to find a quiet stretch of road and try it out...

OK, the flashing rear lights and indicators under heavy braking coming to a halt work... Tried it out last night on a nice quiet stretch of road :|

Better to test it all works before it's needed!

Just to confirm though, was it 'as standard' as the manual suggests?

I haven't made any changes regarding that so yes, it must be standard.... Oh, and the brakes are pretty good too :giggle:

Queue a spat of vRS owners pulling emergency stops to check their auto hazards ;)

Nice one Harlequin but lets not restrict it just to vRS owners. After all, everyone who can exceed 60 km/h can take part - it'll just take that much longer :giggle:

I'ts a lot easier to check when the rear of the car is facing a white building when you slam the anchors on so you can see the flashing in your mirror... either that, or get someone to stand at the side of the road and let you know what's happening :smirk:

Come on, show some flair, what you need to do is emergency stop speeding towards a mirrored building while handbrake turning to see if the hazards are flashing in the reflection :)

Lol, apologies for being vRS elitist ;)

However, if you want to do that, let me know and I'll come with the camcorder so we can put it on You Tube :)

I might give it a miss as mine will be all of a month old tomorrow. :)

Convenience -> Door Locks (I think) -> Auto Lock -> Auto Lock On

Can also set Off, which opens them when you cut the ignition.

Also in that menu is:

Convenience -> Door Locks (I think) -> Manual Lock -> All doors, 1 door etc.

Selecting all doors allows you to unlock all the doors and boot with just one press of the remote instead of 2...

Thanks for your help - sat outside work today and followed your thread - when I drove away tonight all the doors locked and then unlocked when I turned off the ignition - great !

Hi,

I ordered a brand new VRS TDI DSG in Dec (going to be at the dealership ready for the new "10" plate) one question does the new model come with the cornering lights? I have ordered the Xeons and Auto light etc. I called Skoda UK and they could not give me an answer. I have searched the internet but been unable to find an answer. Has anyone got the latest model and been able to see if it does come with cornering lights?

Many thanks

Giancarlo

As you have ordered xenons, it comes with cornering lights that actually swivel

On cars without xenons there is a function called foglights with corner function, these do not swivel but one foglight comes on if you indicate and turn the wheel.

Where have you ordered from?

Here in Australia the cornering on fog lights is an additional option on top of Xenons.

On mine the Xenons turn left and right in normal driving but the appropriate fog light also comes on when you turn at (I think) less than 40kph.

Thank you PowerMalc.

I have ordered it from wings of Peterborough, Justin the sales manager is brill, really helpful. I ordered it in December and still have 4 weeks to go until collection, I see you have the TDI DSG how do you find it?

And coming back to the cornering light i take it my fog lights will not come on aswell as the main lights?

Many Thanks

The DSG is brilliant, you hardly notice its changing gear as the changes are so smooth. I think it suits the engine well although others are not so sure.

For me its it a very relaxing drive, its one of the best bits of the car. If you want to use manually the paddle shifts on the wheel are really easy to use.

I would have thought the foglights will work when ever you turn them on. The cornering function of your dipped beam xenons works all the time, no need to switch the function on or off
