Is there any thing electrical I should be wary of....?

Personaly, I'd use some AG engine cleaner with a soft brush, start the engine and then rinse it off, simples :)

Whats the point of starting the engine ?

It's worth wrapping some clingfilm or taping poly bags around the alternator, ECU and any obvious sensors such as the MAF etc, just to be on the safe side

close the bonnet. Out of sight out of mind :giggle:

Have never been one for keeping the engine bay clean, its an engine and meant to look a little grubby but as most of the bits are removable plastic isn't it easier to remove them and clean them that way?

Since its a diesel there not much chace of doing any damage with a good spray of water. Just don't use a full force pwer washer!.

I have power washed tractor and landrover engine for years and never had any problem - although bigger and beefier they have all the same bits!

reason for edit , I can't type!

Makes sure all the electrical are working, so I'm told........ :S

detailing brush, AG engine cleaner, toothbrush, cotton wool bud things on sticks, plenty of old rags/t-shirts, small sponge, bucket soapy water, jam jar of petrol, AG plastic cleaner/protector - lots of time.

Another school of thought says be carefull cleaning engine bay -the bodywork in there has protection ,which might be removed .Or is that from days of old ?
