Next Generation Octavia

Actually, just quickly browsed through the latest Finnish translation of the "Auto Bild" magazine. It was saying Octy 3 is expected to be announced Q1/2011. They even had pictures of it.. have to say it looked very stylish! The new Octy 3 combi was very similar to Superb II combi, except it looked slightly lower and thus more streamlined. The HB octy was excellent.. I fell for it right away. It looked almost coupe'ish. Side profile retained familiar aspects to current one but nose and tail seemed slightly taller and roof line was more coupe. Nose had similar aspects as current FL model retaining the current through the skoda range nose.

Personally I don't care one bit about the release date, it is when it is.. but if the looks are like the one in those pics.. a huge thumbs up from me!

I wonder if Skoda would think of producing a 7 seat taxi version, a bench at the back with 3 rear facing pull downs behind the driver so there is room to take a wheelchair, with conventional doors instead of those sliding ones

In Autobild, it was mentioned that Skoda would get the old (= present) Sharan together with the old (= present) Touran. That Sharan would get close to your taxi, wouldn't it? To be honest, lately, this transfer of models is no longer mentioned.

Auto Motor und Sport shows the next Golf, due for 2013. It will have the MQB platform (Modularen Querbaukasten), just after the Audi A3. This platform will be very flexible: it will be possible to change length, weel base, ... Finally, about 60 models of the VAG-group will have that chassis, from cabrio to SUV. It will be hybrid, electric and autogas-ready. The diesel engines will be new: 3 and 4 cylinder. http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news/vw-golf-vii-der-neue-golf-kommt-2013-der-golf-vii-wird-attraktiver-und-edler-1417043.html

Can we start dreaming of the O4, for about 2014?

Sorry i know this is a old thread, but an interesting discussion.

I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same but i really hope they dont change the size too much, one of the big appeals of the car for me was that it sat in the middle ground between a golf and a passat....

And having now taken delivery that is even more true, really enjoying the car, an excellent mix of being big enough for all teh family and associated stuff but not like driving a barge.

Mmmmmm

A Skoda Sharan?

Might buy one of them instead of the putitive Yeti?

There are occasional rumours of a Skoda small family car (perhaps based on Octy 2 wheelbase but shorter and/or as a development of a world car based on the Octy mk 1). There's a certain logic to this as, notwithstanding the Roomster, the gap between Fabia and Octy is quite big ie there's not really a Skoda Golf (not that VW would want one I suspect!). This could explain the suggestion that the next Octy might be bigger.

This was confirmed by a member of SUK at the Fleet News event helf at Millbrook last summer. My Superb will be due for replacement at the end of 2012, early 2013, so it looks as though I'll be choosing from either the existing Octy or Superb. I would prefer one of the new shape larger Octy's, which would be ideal for my purposes.

On the site of Auto Motor und Sport, the birth of the next Octavia is announced for 2013. It will resemble the Superb. There will be an RSR version (with the R-engine of the Golf R, 270 bhp), but no hybrid. It will be based on the chassis of the Golf VII (wheelbase = wider, 6 cm and longer, 4 cm).

See a picture? Go to http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news/skoda-octavia-neues-vernunftsauto-fuer-2013-der-neue-octavia-kommt-zur-iaa-2013-1747574.html

See the Skoda City? Keep on clicking on the images, and you'll find the car (image number 5).

That new Octy is a beauty! I was going to trade to a Superb Combi next year, not so sure now :p

The Skoda City looks like a Suzuki Splash with a Fabia front, don't like it one bit, too generic small Jap box.
