The boost gauge is an electrical one with a sender in the engine bay and wires to the gauge itself.

This clicky shows how I did it.

I popped out the headlight switch and took a switched live from there. I forgot to note the colour of the wire I used, sorry! Took me 2 mins to find it with a multi-meter.

Edit:

To remove the headlight switch, with the switch in the "OFF" position, push in on the switch until you feel some resistance, and then, with the switch still pushed in, turn it clockwise, and pull it out.
