Hi all, can anyone give me any guidance as to what the three letters on the key blade are used for?

Would a mod re-word the title for me, got it a little backwards there :(

is the letters.FAB? its just the make of the key. same letters been used on all keys i've had even on my estelle.

all mine have had HAA on them

I have noticed that my ignition barrel has FAB on it.

Just for info - mines HAA as well but I certainly can't remember what my other VAG cars keys were.....

Mine has FAB on it. But the gf's seat has different letters on. I was wondering if you could get hold of a new barrell thats already set up for the key the car has. As I managed to break the rod off of the back of the lock whilst replacing her window regulator. Many thanks for the rewording ap0gee. Also to the rest of the comments above.

My Fabia vRS has FAB on it, but my Audi TT has HAA..........................

Im guessing you cant buy a lock to already to suit the car with this lettering?

You can buy a lock from skoda using your V5, proof of identity etc which comes though to suit the rest of the locks on the car..

They keep your key pattern on their system

The only letter on a key that I know that has some meaning is a W. This means that the key has a variable code transponder.

Many thanks for that, looks like im going to have to get the girlfriend to come along with me to order the new part. Seeming as its her car i need to do lol.

mine on the fabia says VAG

The one on my fabia has FAB but the vw transporter i drive at work has HAA....

vRS was HAA

Passat was easy, that just went in the dash but the valet key was HAA too

Quattro is also HAA

so HAA, twas rather easy to remember :p
