News tyres fitted

Featured Replies

Hope this thread is allowed. I have just had 4 new tyres fitted to my VRS

Drove home friday night and found I got a puncture, put spacesaver on(it had a standard road tyre on it ,directional, 50mph for 50 miles thing, how fast/long would i be able to drive with it?)

Sat went to get repaired, tyre knackered/ already been repaired/ I drove for too long before i noticed and knackered tyre wall.

Went home and looked onloine as ATS was too pricey and couldn't get me a tyre there and then. Knowing fronts were just legal and I needed a rear I ordered 4 from Event-tyres

http://www.event-tyres.co.uk

4 x 205/45R16 87V FALKEN ZE912 XL @ £68.81

Order Subtotal: £275.24

Order Discounts: £-13.76 (5% Discount)

--------------------------

TOTAL ORDER COST: £261.48

Fitted in 45 mins, balanced, new valves and caps, at my house, they come to you in a van

I recommend

The spare tyre should not be directional for obvious reasons. It may be asymmetric (left side is different to the right). What tyre have you got on the spare? Does it have direction arrows on it?

There have been many discussions on here why it has the 50 mph limit on it (I'm still not sure of the answer), but if it is a non-directional W or V rated tyre, then you can go over 50 mph if you wish.

I'm glad you did not ask what tyres should I buy, as there is too many tyre threads for the Furby vRS.

He should have asked "What tyres............."..... then we could have killed another kitten.

Spare tyre is a Accelera Alpha 204-40-16 87 v , I assume that at some point in the cars life spare has been used and replaced by the cheapest thing going. it is directional. Is it wise to use the tyre in its opposite direction?

A what? At some point, when you can afford it (I know you've just bought 4 tyres) get rid of it, no matter what the tread level is like and buy a non directional one (205/45 16). It is not at all wise to run a directional one in the wrong direction. It may be OK in the dry up to curtain speeds, but in the wet it will be dangerous! It channels water to the centre of the tyre not the outside as it should, this will mean it will aqua-plane very easily.

My spare is a Michelin Pilot Premicy, but it can be a Conti or Bridgestone etc.
