Fabia vRS (not the usual post)

It needs to undercut it, tbh. It's the way of VAG!

if there is a diesel engine itll be the 1.6 :giggle:

Nope, 2.0 140ps... get with the programme, Colin!

FABIA VRS WILL BE

- 1.4 TSI

- 170bhp

- DSG

- available in hatch and estate

- available end of June

Anyone who doesnt believe me wasnt in the Skoda factory last week when I saw it...........

No I wasnt at the Skoda factory... However I was at english class, learning how to spell DIESEL.....

Skoda should have introduced the mk.II Fabia vrs instead of the "Sport" model and aimed at no more than 14k.. There doesn't seem to be any point now if you're gonna be looking at £16k

£18k for the three-door Polo GTI: http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/247585/

Am I right in saying that the old Fabia vrs had the same engine as the old polo gti? It may be safe to assume, the new Fabia vrs will have the same 178bhp output?

The thing is, an overpriced Polo gti doesnt really make an overpriced Fabia vrs any more attractive. :-)

Babs

Where do you get this ridiculous notion that Skoda undercuts Seat pricewise?

The current Fabia has always been more expensive than the latest Ibiza.

Not that you guys should believe a random noob on the Internet, but I'd like to confirm VRSDEISEL's post. The engine is indeed going to be a 170bhp 1.4TSI with DSG. Production starts week 22.

I saw the RS when it was unveiled to importers in Mlada Boleslav, back in november. As some posters related, the communication color is going to be rallye green, with black wheels and roof. I thought it looked awesome, but the facelift is not all that pronounced. It feels wider thanks to the new grill (though it isn't really), and the optics are new, but I didn't think it necessarily looked like the Octavia, as per the OP. It's closer to the photoshops IMO.

The press embargo on the facelifted Fabia should be off in a couple days, and will give you a clearer view of what to expect. Embargo on the actual RS should be lifted at Geneva in march.

It's a joke -just like buying a SEAT Ibiza and joining a Skoda forum......

Where have you heard the embargo is going to be lifted?? Can you also tell me whether the new vRS has a bodykit fitted?

making that kinda comment...really not the path to choose...

think the GT was a PD130, the GTI was a 1.8T

I do hope that you are not pulling our collective legs!! 150-170bhp estate with DSG sounds lovely, i would prefer a 140bhp diesel but i wont complain. Roll on October!

Interesting that Seat seem to be coming back into the small estate market (they had a Cordoba Vario a few years back which was an Ibiza with an estate back-end).

Seat Ibiza ST anyone? (The photos are on the Photo Gallery link on that page.)

But they don't seem to be launching with very powerful engines- I'd expected they'd have something to beat a Fabia VRS estate. :wonder:

Im not keen on the current Ibiza, but I really love that ST  that would certainly be my choice over the Fabia estate. 1.2 TSi will be fine for me, wonder how much?

Not that Im changing for a long time :giggle:

VW have just released news of the Polo R, which will be 190bhp, apparently.

No they haven't, they released a GTI with 180PS, but no word on the R yet. There is a rumor going round it will be 190, but I think thats unlikely.

The longer this debate goes on about the design of the new Skoda Fabia vRS, the more I'm convinced it's going to be based on the Golf GT Sport!

Skoda know that most customers desire a diesel but the 1.4 TSI 170bhp petrol will have more power than the present model. Ok ,it might not have the previous torque but at least it'll be spread more evenly over the revs...So it would appear Skoda have gone for a compromise..

Not be long now, only a couple of weeks to the Geneva Motor Show so we'll all be put out of our misery!

I was actually talking about the VW Polo R in my post, when I made the 190bhp comment.

Or changing from a Skoda to a Seat. I mean, how ridiculous. Two brands of car with nothing in common.

Sorry I did not get to reply earlier.

As you may now know, the embargo was lifted today (someone already posted about it here).

Whether you like them or not, the pictures released today should give you a better idea of what to expect from the RS, if you mixed that with a sports styling kit, black roof and nice black rims. I have only seen the Rallye Green color, but a second color will also be exclusive to RS: Race Blue.

Official info on the RS is going to be released on March 2, at the Geneva motorshow kick off press conference, at 12:45.

Cheers for that ,I'm starting to get quite excited about it now!

I'm impressed with the fabia facelift ,but the RS model should look fantastic, considering it is meant to stand out from all the rest!

I can't wait.....

I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be highly accurate:

If it does turn out like that. it'll be pretty damn good with black roof and black wheels!

This should help you envision it better: skoda_fabia_vrs_1.jpg

Imagine basically this, with the new FL front. Very nice looking IMO, but people expecting a revolution of S2000 proportions will be disappointed.
