sticking accelerator pedal

Featured Replies

How do I lubricate a sticking accelerator pedal on my 07 Fabia 1.9TDi please. Also, is it electronic or cable. Thanks

It is an electronic one. It is not as dangerous as the the Toyota problem as the brake pedal overrides it. If it sticks when you are driving, you can press the brake pedal and it kills the throttle, unlike Toyotas.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to solve it though.

Thanks for the replies. The pedal does not return to rest, stops at about 1500revs. Have to flick it back with my toe. Thought it may want lubrication but cannot see how. Thanks

It' isn't possible to lube the mechanism. If it is sticking you must change the unit. Easy job to do.

On an 07 you should have (hopefully) a little warranty left.. get it down to Skoda and let them work it all out asap.

They'll lube anything that can be and replace anything that's faulty.

I had the same problem on my 07 VRS, which still had some warranty left. The dealer acknowledged this as a problem and replaced the complete unit. Works great now. They also replaced all four door seals, as I had some water getting in at the back.

Mine does this intermittently. Can settle at anything between 850 and 1500rpm depending on how it's feeling. I'm getting quite used to hooking my toe under the pedal. Does anyone know the parts to order and prices?

My April 07 1.9TDi had been doing this intermittently for several months but supplying dealer could not sort it.

It did not show on their diagnostics.

Then one cold morning started it and idle jumped to 3500rpm before I got my foot underneath the pedal and pulled it back!

Took it to DM Keith Skoda Huddersfield (who didnt supply it) and they sorted it in 1 hour under warranty with a new throttle sensor assembly.

No problems since.

Just for reference the replacement pedal assembly part number is:

6Q2721503H - 69.58 + VAT from TPS

Thanks. Will have to have a look when weather warms up a bit.

Replaced my pedal assembly today. Not quite as easy as I hoped - you do need to remove the trim underneath the steering wheel (check out the cruise control instructions on fabia-vrs.com). It's then a case of unclipping and swinging away a little raft of electrical connectors that obstruct access to the top two mounting nuts. You can then get at them with a socket. The single lower one is easy. When fitting the new unit, you can (thankfully) just about get the top nuts on with fingers.

Took just over an hour at a leisurely pace. Now I need to unlearn my reflex throttle foot move that hooks the pedal back each time I stop at a junction.

...I have experienced the same problem a couple of times already on a Roomster 08 ...I bought last week.

Scary feeling. Same engine 1.9TDI.

discovered the same fault i believe here on my newly acquired 2007 fabia 1.4 tdi pd 80bhp

will speak to the dealer i bought it from and get them to fix it, same symptoms, revs stick to above normal and when i put my foot underneath it it goes back to normal idle

glad i found this out, excellent post!

ps. thinking now this could also affect economy

This happened to me with my vRS. The car was in for it's last health check before the warranty was up (around this time last year) and the replaced the throttle under warranty)

Sorry to dig up an old thread - my used 2007 Roomster Scout is scaring the crap out of me due to this sticky throttle thing.

Does anyone know whether 6Q2 721 503H is the latest version of the pedal that will fit?

^ Thanks mate :)

Splendid fellow :)

Thanks

Squirted a small amout of WD40 PTFE between the pedal and the housing yesterday - no effect immediately after driving however today the car's been perfect.

Which is nice
