N249 Removal

I did this yesterday. Haven't had much of a drive yet so I'll let you know how it goes.

why didnt you remove the whole system???

there is loads of pipes you can remove plus the main valve on the side of the head,,,,

well done though report back how it feels will take a few miles for the ecu to settle

p.s have you sorted that map out yet???

There's all the metal pipes on the side of the block. Thought I'd leave them alone for now as I didn't feel like taking a load of other stuff apart to get to them :)

I'd already removed the SAI system and the valve that goes with it. What else is there?

According to this diagram the metal pipes are all there is left:

of course thats part of the sai lol my bad

yep metal pipes are a pain you can also put a pipe now staight from charcoal filter to throttle body dont need allthat tangles

What's up with the map like?! ;)

Indeed! ?!?

i thought you said you had an issue ????????????

also getting it smoothed out so its not like mount everest??? ;)

sorry for being a newb, whats the advantage of removing this?

allows the dump valve to work mechanically and not governed by the ecu. helps with throttle response

So, if I remove all the coloured bits above do I just need to connect the DV to the intake manifold, fit a forge blanking plate to the engine, block the small outlet from the airbox, and fit a resisitor to the air pump wiring?

No issues with the map, no. Maybe you were thinking of someone else? I did have a flat spot at about 3k rpm as the dyno plot showed, and I have a faulty O2 sensor which is due to be replaced when the new one arrives this week :)

As for the mount Everest graph - without a bigger turbo I don't think that's going to change. Maybe a FMIC will help a bit but basically the K03S can't supply enough boost at higher revs to sustain the power.

Pretty much, yes. Though I got a CEL after doing the SAI removal which I got Ben to remove on my Shark remap.

okay buddy

just look at the graph the power and torque falls like a stone ben should be able to lower the peak but hold the power and torque to the red line......

Can an existing remap be modded to remove the CEL or will a complete new remap be required?

Should be if they know what they're doing. Ben at Shark Performance did mine.

Nice Job Rob as usual,

Will be doing this soon with the Secondary air system.

were you left with any pipes to block off or reroute?

Would it be possible to map out the CEL due to the air pump removal as well or can that only be done with a resistor?

The resistor stops the CEL for "Open circuit" with the N112 and SAI pump. The other CEL is for air pump not functioning.

I got the one for not functioning mapped out but used resistors for the others.

The N249 CEL can also be mapped out :)

The N249 CEL can also be mapped out :)

Might need to talk to you about that if it appears :D

No problem, let me know if it pops up

I think I'll be doing this mod soon as long as I can get the N249, N112 and SAI pump CEL mapped out and not have to use any resisitors.

Can someone confirm if I can get the N249, N112 and SAI pump CEL mapped out and not have to use any resisitors.

Where has everybody gone?

  • 1 month later...

Haha! Yeah everyone legged it!

I'd really like to know this too actually. I'm not a fan of the resistors! I'd like to just unplug the pump.

I think I'm going to leave the N249 all connected up normally, and if I'm leaving the plate there I may aswell just leave the de-plumb'd N112 attached and plugged into its lead.

Obviously I'd remove the pump, combi valve and associated pipework.

I tell you what, I'm changing the oil on the car this weekend, so I'll unplug the pump from its lead and see what occurs!

I don't care about error codes, it can pop up loads if it wants and I'll just recognise them when I run code scans. But if it's gonna pop a light up on the dash then that's more annoying, and what would be more annoying is if it kicked the car into limp mode.

Did you get any lights on atall Rob? Or just codes? If you did get any lights on, was it before or after you removed the N112?

Merci
