Ordered my 1.2 SE in Muscovado last week :o)

Featured Replies

Just spoken to the dealer who told me that the build date for my 1.2 dsg elegance ordered at the end of December is week 12 and also said that delivery was dependent on when it got on the boat but could be the end of March or early April. He also said that he ordered a dsg the other week and was given a week 20 build date.

Firstly I presumed it would be less juicy and secondly I've ALWAYS driven manuals and feel like I 'know what to do' with the gears in ice etc where as I wouldn't have a clue with an auto...

I have the opposite problem - I've driven auto cars and trucks for last 5 years so got to learn how to drive again!

W.r.t. not knowing what to do with an Auto - you don't have to. Just mash the right peddle to go and middle peddle to stop. Simples. *squeak*

Ohhffff - firstly you would normally be right. But the new 'dry clutch' DSG is actually more economical than the manual and more sporty to drive. Secondly, just because you have tried something before doesn't mean you won't like it.!!! :giggle:

Seriously i drove manuals for years, and thought the same - but once you go auto you don't go back. With the traffic the way it is now days, i don't understand why we all hold to the legacy of manual transmission. Unless people enjoy exercising their left leg.

Agreed, the transmission was my main bugbear with the Yeti as I spend a lot of time crawling in traffic and a manual sucks for that. If I could have a Diesel Auto Yeti I'd be a very happy man. Even the modern Autos are ok off road too as early ones gave very little engine braking on downhill slopes but with the locking autos it compensates. I drove an early auto Jeep Wrangler once off road and it was dreadful on slopes - constantly needed to rein it back in with the brakes but my recent auto Ford Bronco (from USA) was no problems off road.

Oh dear. Looks like I made a boo boo then. Too late now! Has anyone else ordered a manual?

Lots of people have ordered manuals including me.

Phew! So I am not alone! What were your reasons for ordering a manual?

Emailed my dealer this morning for an update and got this back;

"Morning Simon, No news yet on a build time for your car, Skoda have been

inundated with orders for the yeti, and are unable to build in the

quantities they need, Your order has been accepted by the factory so we

know we should have a build time quite soon. Many thank, speak soon. "

I ordered on 31st Jan....

bummocks!

It would have cost a fair bit more for the DSG on our company scheme. Also I wass suppsoed to order before Christmas and even when I ordered in january I don't think the DSG was actually available to order. therer were certainly no demo cars available either so there was no chance of a test drive. I was really tempted to hold on and order a DSG as I do like autos but in the end I decided a manual would be fine for me.

The VW DSG boxes are supposed to be more economical than traditional torque converter boxes but I don'[t thnik you'll notice much difference in economy between a DSG and a manual in real life. I currently have a manual Octavia 1.9 TDi estate and a colleague has the same car but with a DSG box. he gets consistently worse economy htan I do but obviously some of that could be down to driving style and type of journey.

According to the Yeti Brochure the DSG is not more economical than the manual, except in extra urban

1.2 DSG

Uban 29.4 mpg

Extra Urban 50.4 mpg

Combined 39.8 mpg

CO2 165 g/km

1.2 manual

Urban 37.2 mpg

Extra Urban 47.9 mpg

Combined 44.1 mpg

CO2 149 g/kg

Nor does the 1.2 DSG Perform better than the manual

1.2 DSG

Max Speed 108 mph

0.62 mph 12 sec

1.2 manual

Max Speed 109 mph

0-62 mph 11.8 sec

I see...The other issue for me is I share the use of my partners manual van and chopping from auto to manual all the time is a little bit confusing...

I ordered a manual 1.2 TSI because of 1. cost and 2. better fuel economy of manual version over DSG. I used to work for VW and have driven many miles in DSG cars. I love DSG gearboxes but it was not in the frame for me this time due to costs.

Spoke to my dealer today. He originally told me build would be week 15 (I ordered on 10th Feb) but he told me today that the build week is 13 so WHO KNOWS!!

Hi folks

Just czaught up with this thread - great fun, eh? I ordered an aqua blue 4*4 elegance a week ago, in a very decent deal with Sinclair Skoda in Swansea, with a sound upgrade and mats. Dealer was waxing eloquent about the Muscothingy colour, but my preference was for an old and staid light blue (and bugger the dirt) to suit my age - sixty-bluddy-one, but still a teenage hooligan at heart (even if the physical bits don't respond quite as quickly or effortlessly as they used to!!). The dealer was just a little behind me at late 50-something. I really don't know what it all tells you - except this.... this gol-darned car looks immense in whatever colour we choose!

Funny thing, really - we sit in the car driving, probably completely unaware of the colour from inside!!

Priority for me was the four wheel drive as I live in a mountain hamlet with a 1-in-4 on one side and several 1-in-5s with a hairpin bend the other, and having been unable to get out for a fair while this winter, it was unsettling. In fact one night I had to abandon ship 3 miles away half way up a gradient and walk, in the dark, in the snow, in my shoes - to get home. It was actually a lovely night, and i had made sure i'd bought a bottle to revive me on getting home!

Why a yeti - 4*4, economical, interior space for guitars and amps, chunky, safe and well equipped.

So - now to hunker down, and try not to thrash the old 1.5dci Megane to death with frustration at the wait. (That Megane has done me 30,000 miles a year at about 60mpg, and £35 a year road tax.)

and also - all the others, the Squishy-squashy, the Take-You-One (VW), the Honda thing, and the Toyota raving nonsense, and that Ford Krooga - they ALL look like wobbly jelly-moulds, amorphous, bulbous and bloated.

So, there's no debate, Yeti wins feet first.

Hi

I must admit that I ordered a 1.2 TSI DSG Experience (Mato/Muscovado) today here in Sweden.

Now I have to forget the loss of all the money and be ...just happy.

.........but still a teenage hooligan at heart (even if the physical bits don't respond quite as quickly or effortlessly as they used to!!). ...

You are not alone!

(Yep - this went wrong the first tiome.

Thanks. It does look great in that colour

I am new to Briskoda but thought that I needed to talk to likeminded souls as I am driving my son completely mad with my constant chat/question about whether I've ordered the right colour for my SE........... Muscovado. I get it on the 15th and can't wait. but will I need to take a can of paint to respray it? Oh, and should I buy mud flaps? And if so, front only? Front and rear? And and and....

Muscovado's great, suits the car really well. So with the money you save not buying the paint, get the mudflaps (and a small step so you can was the roof easily).
