Some car drives should not be allowed to drive

Featured Replies

I popped for a few minutes last Thursday evening, and look what I found..... Some bonehead parked on the white "keep clear" markings on the road, blocking access to my driveway.

I'd think I'd have found the handbrake cable was loose and pushed it forward then parked it in.

i used to have trouble with a ****** across the road doing that to me, i came home one night in my van and gently backed up to his towbar with mine and "made" a big enough gap to get in.. he soon got the idea :giggle:

If I had parked nose first in my garage, then I could have backed into the car with my towbar :-)

The most stupid thing is that I have seen this car many times before down the road, so the driver of it must know what they were doing. Cretin, I think sums the driver up quite well.

Isn't it supposed to be a criminal offence to block access to the highway as is being done here? If so the police/council may show an interest. I'm sure a nice Penalty Charge Notice and they won't make the same mistake again.

Hmm it is a micra. Got enough mates to pick up the back and move it?

anewman - It is :)

I would favour the moving it option, using a large trolley jack under the back end!

Perhaps the "blocking the access option" ,folowed with , "I've seen them leaving it - all blokes with rucksacks and dark skin heading off to thee train station ,and something is ticking nearby "

What a muppet!

They have commited an offence in parking there and a quick call to the police should see it ticketed or removed as its an offence to block a driveway with a car already parked on it.

And they were saying something like "Bak. Derk-derk-Allah. Derka derka, Mohammed Jihad. Haka sherpa-sherpa. Abaka-la."

Mannyo, is this a fact? I ask as exactly the same happens to our drive every day. We live near Scarborough town centre and even though there is a nice big white line on the road, a dropped curb and two obvious drives - ours and next doors - people seem to think it's okay to park and block access.

I can sympathise with mbames as it is something I would never do and is so annoying, especially if you've got the kids in the car or a boot full of shopping you need to empty. It may not sound much, but I paid a handsome price for a house with a drive as parking round here is like hens teeth and when some thoughtless person blocks my access, then I get quite annoyed.

If it is an offence, then that would make my rantings even more valid.

Sorry to rant all over your thread mbames.

My understanding is it is illegal to block access to the highway. Therefore if a car is parked on the driveway it's an offence. If there is no car parked there it is not.

Right, I may look into this as it does wind me up. One funny outcome is our neighbour who is a body builder gets very annoyed if it happens. It doesn't matter who it is, he'll tell them in no uncertain terms that blocking our drives is a bad idea and might shorten their life expectancy. These people only do it once and they never return.

I have less visual impact - hence the user name skinnyman. :(

Call the non-emergency line of the police and get it shifted.

Frail elderly visitor that you had to bung in a taxi should help things happen quicker.

Do you know, I might just try that one.
