Real mpg figures for 1.8TSI DSG and TD170 DSG

Featured Replies

As a potential Skoda owner I would like to know what people are getting in the real world driving of these cars? I know it depends on how they are driven, servicing etc. But the manufactures figures are usally out so a real world experience would be appreciated.

Can't say for sure as I don't own one, but rough guessing I'd say this

1.8 Petrol - DSG

Urban - 26mpg - 31mpg

Extra - 35mpg - 40mpg

2.0 diesel - DSG

Urban - 30mpg - 38mpg

Extra - 42mpg - 55mpg

Hi

i run the cr170dsg so can tell you what i get from that: my overall average is pretty close to the official combined at 47 mpg, although on my daily motorway commute at average speeds of 50-60mph i easily get into the low 50's. However the mpg figure is very dependent on style of driving and journey routes but i have to say i have been very pleased with mine. I'm sure my mpg would be lower if i was travelling on an urban commute though. I haven't driven the 1.8 but heard excellent reports about it and sounds like you wouldn't go wrong with that either.

Not sure what a CR170 DSG is, is it a 2.0 TDI? Cos that's what I have in Australia (a 2.0 TDI DSG) and my fuel figs over 14,000km are:

6.45 litres per 100km or 43.8 imp mpg.

I drive a CR170 Elegance manual, mainly over long journeys with a high proportion of time using cruise control. Over the last 16 months I have averaged 53.8

Here's my real-life 170CR DSG data since 6th. February, 2009:

I have the 1.8 tsi dsg. I'm afraid I do not keep proper records to validate it, but the maxidot shows an average of 33mpg over the 3000 miles to date since new. I get nearly 40mpg on a roads and motorway at a steady 65 to 70mph and this drops right down to the low 30s at 80mph. Around town (london) it can be as low as 25mpg or as good as 30mpg depending on traffic. Over the 3000 miles I have done a roughly equal mix of both. Worth the fuel penalty in my view as it is very civilised and cheaper to buy - but accept it may not be as easy to sell in a few years time! Problem I had when buying was no dealer had a petrol demo. I took a risk in buying without trying but am very pleased. Only downside is more regular trips to the pumps as range is well below what I am used to from previous diesels.

I run a CR170DSG Elegance and can confirm typical MPG for short journeys 42-44 and longer motorway trips 48-50, however higher speeds and more aggressive driving can reduce these figures as you would expect.

Can't say for sure as I don't own one, but rough guessing I'd say this

1.8 Petrol - DSG

Urban - 26mpg - 31mpg

Extra - 35mpg - 40mpg

2.0 diesel - DSG

Urban - 30mpg - 38mpg

Extra - 42mpg - 55mpg

Not far off !

1.8 Petrol - DSG

Urban - 29mpg

Extra - 38mpg

2.0 diesel - PD140 manual

Urban - 37mpg

Extra - 47mpg

The DSG CR170 should do better than the PD140 manual, on no account get a DSG with the 140 as fuel consumption is poor.

The petrol is very good due to 7 speed box and is VERY quiet.

Hope this helps.

1.8 TSI DSG Elegance with 225/45 17 Pirelli tyres.

I have been storing all the refuellings in an excel file, and the results for the first year of use are:

Mileage: 30911 km (19207 miles)

Total consuption: 2589,65 litres

Average consumption: 8.3777 litres / 100 km = about 34 mpg

The use is 80% highway crusising at 120-140 km/h (75-87 mph), the rest is hard urban driving with traffic lights every 50 metres, traffic jams, and so on. Highway, only the driver plus luggage. City, the same plus a one-year old baby.

Hope this helps.
