Colours for new Octavia

Oops, sorry Walter - to answer your question:

Dealer = Jerry Collins, Enniskeane, Co Cork. They're only ok - I've had dealings with his family and I guess that means he cuts me a bit of a deal on the price. But I reckon he's not "smart"ing too much, though

Imagine my dilemma....a company car budget which wouldn't stratch to an Octy 2 Elegance leaving me no other choice than to opt for an Ambiente, then use the rest of my monthly allowance to add 16" Sirius alloys, cruise and the small leather pack. No money for metallic paint!

I could have ditched the alloys, however, I wanted the greater grip the 16" alloy should give over the standard 15" steel rims.

Cruise was a must (30K+ miles per year) and the leather wheel so much nicer than plastic.

Oh well, my metallic preference of Flamenco Red would have to be droppped. With only THREE solid colours to choose from I quickly ruled out white (even if they say it's the new silver), the blue looked mediocre. leaving just Red.

I admit Corrida Red is a VERY red red, however, I've owned/driven FIVE red cars and not one of them has had metallic paint. Corrida Red is a bold colour, however, I'm hoping the optional alloys will inject some sportiness into the Amniente Octy. It'll certainly be a rare Octy with the alloys. As it is, I've only seen three Octy 2's on the road since November 2004 and one of these was a demonstrator. Why are they such a rare sight? Yesterday I saw THREE Superbs....in ONE day!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking delivery of my red Octy in the next week or so and I'll be sure to post photos as soon as possible.

Does anyone else have an opinion on Corrida Red or indeed the two other solid colours?

For the record, I think Flamenco Red is gorgeous and my favourite Octy 2 colour.

Yes i asked myself the same , but then reakised that only 2 colours are true Skoda , silver is too common , Black and Red . Black shows off the Alloys perfect and during the winter all cars are dirty anyway , but during the summer all you need is a little TLC , and its worth the effort .

I bought from Eamon Tarrant in Banteer. I went to Jerry Collins in Enniskeane first but they didn't seem to be too keen to let me test drive, or sell me a car for that matter.

And hey, enough jabs at Cork roads... the great thing about them, muddy or otherwise, is that they lead to Cork ;-)

:P Not really a jab at the roads just being practical :D - my wifes family all farm around Nohoval (near Belgooly) and every time we take the car over it gets covered in no end of crap (probably put on the roads by her family  ) ... if you are half as lazy at cleaning cars as me you need a colour that doesn't show the dirt too much :o Anyway, good to hear you are enjoying the new motor

Kevin, I know it is a bit off subject, but since the roads in Cork have been mentioned, how are you getting on with the new KPH speed limits over there in Cork ?

For the record, I think Flamenco Red is gorgeous and my favourite Octy 2 colour.

I was going to go silver or dark blue metallic, but then I saw the Flamenco red....... No contest really - Mine will be Flamenco red (if it ever arrives  )

That must be the colour I seen in Phoneix Motors yesterday, lovely colour.

Corrida red is very red when the car's clean, but it far more 'manageable' with a bit of dirt.

Clayts, having the OctyII speedo showing ONLY km's is excellent, makes the change too easy. It's only a few days into the changeover, and, like the

The big change is on the national roads (and they are legion!!) is a real drop in speedlimit from 62mph to 50mph.

I think you mean Regional Roads Kevin' date=' the national ones are 100Km/hr (62mph) :)

http://www.gometric.ie/checksigns-lg.pdf

Your right though, its a big change and not required on some of these roads.

BTW Did you see this posted on VAGE.ie,

Did anyone see the RTE news last night?!

The reporter was driving along the motorway, keeping the car at 100km(to show what he thought was the max speed limit), then gave out everytime someone passed him out,

What i find funny though is that isnt the motorway speed limit 125km?

Right there, Gaff! Sorry..

Can you answer this: is it true that there is not a single motorway in the Muster region? Have to head to Dublin to go for 120kph?

Also, BTW, back right of my OctyII giving knocking sounds, in the body of the boot-to-car?

No...not a Goodfellas moment!

You'd know better than me, as I don't be down that way to often  .
