Increasing Order backlog ?

Featured Replies

I called the dealer to find out if they had a confirmed build date for our CR140 Elegance, ordered third week January. (Computer says build week 11, so should get it early April ).

They said it was just as well we ordered when we did as they are now advising a 14 to 16 week delay between order and delivery !

Anyone else being quoted extended delivery times?

Ceefax.

Our local dealer is also saying 14-16 weeks! I ordered first week of January so think I just missed the mad rush. Mine is also due week 11 and ive been advised that pickup from the dealer will be between 12th-24th April. :)

Heard a similar story from my dealer he said a February order for a 1.2 DSG was listed as week 20. Been given a build week for my DSG as week 12 with delivery end of March early April depending on when it got on the ship over from Germany.

Maybe it is because they are trying to work out how to fit snow chains or whether to provide a good all year round tyre instead of the "W" rating 168 mph Goodyear Excellence :)

Snow chains - Disgraceful they cannot be fitted to Elegance

Let us hope so. It would make me happy if they did that.

i've got no idea what my build week is!!! I ordered at beginning of the month.

I better phone Lombard today and i'll update on here.

An update on my order.

Ordered my 1.2 DSG Elegance in the third week of January. It has a build week of week 11, which is w/c 15 March, and so deleivery should be early April.

There seem to be a heck of a lot of them getting built in week 11!

Come mid April you probably wont be able to move on the road for new Yeti's!

You may be right but I found that, with care and the "off-road" button, I coped extremely well through heavy snow and ice (on ungritted roads) using the Goodyear Excellence. I was not trying to climb mountains but it is quite hilly around Snowdonia.

Ordered mine on 19th January and just heard today from my dealer that build week has gone back from FW10 and is now FW12 (week starting 22nd March).

Looks like mid-to late April delivery now.

Lots of UK Yeti`s being built FW10-12, maybe this is batching of right hand drive models or just demand from Dec / January orders.

Hi Terfyn,

not the going up-hill I found a problem with on the Goodyear Excellence, it was the going down; thought I was practising for this years winter Olympics :S

One 180 was enough

I am another with week 11 build week and told to expect delivery end of March. I started to worry when I heard about 16-20 week lead times but as people are saying this would seem to be for those ordering now. Glad I moved when I did.......

Hi TP

Interesting and sorry about the 180!

You know that the brochure goes on about:-

Improves braking effect of the car

• Longer braking creates a ‘chock’

of surface material, enhancing

vehicle control

• Only active up to 30mph

Well when I needed this system it seemed to hold the car OK. A dab on the brakes locks the system on and the car just lowers itself down the hill. I realise there must be a point where any tyre "lets go" and, fortunately, I did not reach it. I have found that there is a greater tendency to lose grip on corners with a resulting sideways slide. This is corrected by the system after it registers that all is not well.

Hi again Terfyn,

at the time I was descending a fairly steep single track road, travelling down a straight section with hill decent and 1st gear engaged. Road had a good blanket of snow and been travelled down by a Tiguan moments before. Front lost grip and began to slide forward next thing I knew back end gave up completely and overtook the front. Continued to slide down the hill backwards with a stalled engine until coming to rest in the verge just missing a tree :( :S

After that I had to descend the hill backwards by reversing in and out the verge to stop the sliding until the road was wide enough again to turn round. The verge was still required to brake the slides or for the back to swing into thus preventing it overtaking the front again. Mystified how she completed that 180 without hitting anything, the road was very narrow at that point.

Decided after that winter tyres were a must and they have proved far superior to summer tyres. The only thing I'm finding after an over reading 2000 miles is a mild vibration has started to appear through the chassis, which I believe is from the winters on the rough road surface (hope that's the case anyway) which is adding a little extra accomplishment to the odd chatter and creak I still get from the dash :S

Despite these foibles I'm still very happy with the marvellous Monster, she's been a godsend this winter especially now she's got the right shoes :)

Regards,

TP

Firstly it was not virgin snow so it was more slippery verging on ice. Descending steep hills with driven on snow can be tricky. Possibly the “hill decent control†was to sharp or severe for the situation. When descending steep inclines under engine braking or with hill decent, when the wheels start to loose traction or begin to slip, one must accelerate to regain traction immediately. Do not forget that hill decent uses the brakes and that the ABS is not that fast, no matter what Haldex say. I believe that it might lack some sensitivity in that situation. It would only need a fraction of a slip to start the ball rolling. One needs to override the electronics. The above is similar to cadence braking but using the accelerator instead of just releasing the brake. When descending extreme slopes off road in very slippery conditions in a 4x4 this is the only way to keep control. If one has not experienced or practiced this it can be a bit daunting because it is the opposite of natural instinct just as cadence braking is. One needs to practice or experience it so that one can then do it reactively and not just rely on the cognitive process.

The vibration might be the wheels going out of ballance. This could be caused by loosing a lead weight or collecting mud inside the wheel when you last took it off road?

TP thanks for your information about losing control on a downhill descent.

With that experience would you be happy repeating a descent in similar conditions and feel safe using all season M & S grade tyres.?

(I am aware dedicated winter tyres would of course be somewhat better)

had an arguement with our fleet supplier - he says there system is updated every Monday and my order is still showing delivery last week in March.

I cannot get my head round that as i only ordered 1st week in February. Others ordered 1.2 TSI DSGs weeks/months before me and getting delivery later!!!

Did you order a number of options? Dealers have always said mine generally take longer due to the extras I specify but unsure if this is the case with the Yeti tbh.

Maybe Skoda are fulfilling fleet orders in preference to private sales. Bit selfish but I hope so as mine's a fleet order!

Ordered last week in Dec. Thought I would get it by 1st March but I'm another with a Yeti built between week 10-12 with delivery early-mid April. Maybe we should have a UK contingent going out to the factory on week 11 - we could play match the car with the owner!? This forum is going to go really quiet in late April as everyone start driving rather than typing! Had a horrid flashback to a picture someone put on this forum showing a car transporter that had lost it's load of Skodas. Now if that happened in early April to us lot here that would cause a forum meltdown!

So do I - although they wouldn't do that would they?!

Just had a phone call from my dealer to say my car is set for a week 13 build, so it should be with the dealer 2-3 weeks after that (mid to end of April)-was prdered on 4th February.

The Skoda dealer told me last week that the yeti will be arriving 10-20 days after than schedual because of everyone ordering sunroofs etc, Wierd.

Also read on the net that Yetis' will be manufactured as well in Ukraine from this month, no wonder....

  • 2 weeks later...

Had my build week 11 confirmed today emoticon-0148-yes.gif but the email from the dealer suggested that the car should be with them by week 16/17emoticon-0104-surprised.gif Surely that cannot be right? I have always been told and read that it should be two / three weeks following build for delivery not six! Anyone else had to wait ages following build? or can I assume that this is probably incorrect and that I will see my car end of March / early April after all.........

Snowmonster of mine was week 50 build (Commencing 7 Dec ?) and was delivered to me on Jan 12 so guess about 4 weeks factory to me, nb christmas and new year in that time span may have altered timings.
