Sky HD in bedroom?

Featured Replies

Basically, we're getting sky HD installed in a couple of weeks.

I didn't want to pay for multiroom (as we only have 2 rooms!) but would like to be able to view sky on the bedroom tv.

We're not fussed about the bedroom one being HD, but would like the ability to change channels if poss.

I've read a bit about the wireless transmitters but they don't seem that great.

Any ideas please?

Thanks!

From the rear of your HD box there will be an RF out. If you connect a cable from there to your other telly you can watch sky programs, but only channels whats on the telly which is connected to the sky box. In the aerial socket at the back of the TV in the bedroom you can fit a mouse then fit the cable from the other telly into the other end of the mouse , it's an adaptor that has a magic eye and is powered from the Aeriel cable, it comes with another sky remote , or you can use a spare one and you can change the channels in the bedroom

Think it's called a " SKY TV LINK "

"Does all that make sense"

Just buy the signal sender from Argos and plug one in next to your sky box and place the eye near in the infrared bit and put the other upstairs and do the same :)...you can then use your sky remote to watch telly upstairs:).....i have one and iot works a treat :) jobs a good un and bobs yer aunties brother:)

Mine is in the shed! :giggle: Well the garage to be precise - it's currently rigged up to a bird box camera sending a live feed from the back of the garden...

I'm not keen on using one of the senders - seems a lot of them pick up interference. Plus, we only have a one bed flat so seems a bit extreme to use wireless when if I drill the wall, the sky box (lounge) and bedroom TV will be about 3m of cable.

Personally, I like to keep as much cabled as possible to reduce any interference. We've got a rediculous amount of electrical stuff in a one bed flat so the less interference the better.

I've decided to go with Auric and get the RF feed. The sky+ mouse kits are on ebay @ £14.99 and then cabling costs very little.

Thanks to all for the advice!

:)

But surely your still having to use the "magic eye" which uses a wireless signal!...i have a shed load of wirelss stuff in my gaff and never have a problem with interference.....apart from the microwave in the kitchen if im watching in there but that will happen with everything.

The magic eye uses a smidgen of infra red, as opposed to the constant transmission required by the senders. If I had a house, then it probably wouldn't be an issue but as I live in one of ten flats, all of whom (apart from me) use lots of wireless stuff and get bad interference from each other then I don't really want to add to it. Our landline is a wireless handset, and that gets some interference.

You could try bunging the engineer some cash, and see if he'll whip you some feeds into the other room. Then just buy a cheap freesat box.

...you wouldn't get any of the subcribed channels. Handy for getting good reception on normal channels in another room though.

I bought a magic eye off ebay for about £3 and manage with just the one remote.
