Lovely photos, thanks for sharing.

I didnt make it to the Kirkstone Pass last time I went north, too much traffic on roads, but its very near the top of my list for next time - even higher now!

178bhp and 285 ft-lb think the ft-lb makes the difference pulled away lower speeds realy easy think top end he would have had me eventualy also my cars lighter  nice to know that in real life driveing the furby has the edge v std astra vxr

Was there really that much difference or was it more down to the drivers ability?

I just ask this as the standard vxr delivers 237bhp and 236lb ft of torque @ 1393kg.........vs........... your modded fabia with 178bhp and 285lb ft @ 1315kg

You are approx 78kg lighter with 49lb ft more torque but he has a whopping 59bhp more than you. His official figure for 0-60 is 6.2secs and I just can't see how you pulled away easy. :wonder:

Not saying you didn't absolutely hammer him but just can't see it being down to anything other than driver ability.

thats it **** on his bonfire lol

i hammered it passed a porcshe 911 carrera then pulled in he came past me howling so then went after him he wasnt pulling away like u'd expect, and a bwm 335 couldnt get away keep up from the lights,

diesel power rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vauxhall 'claim' they push out 240 bhp but in reality they only see figures up to 230, sometimes lower.

Went along to a VXR RR'd day with a mate last year and his was a bit of a let down, with a remap his pushed out 260bhp and 300lb/ft.

I know dyno's aren't the most accurate way but when most cars reach factory figures you seem to trust them.

We're either of them even bothering to try and pull away? :giggle: ..................and believe me when I say that I know how fast a modded diesel vRS can be :dull:

weird...I was behind a 911 on the M40 and when the traffic cleared it simply drove away from me, nothing I could about it. in my defence it was at least a turbo. with the private plate P1ATO

he was trying his hardest to keep up with me his own words but couldnt and its the ft-lb that sends you to 60mph the bhp gives you the top end this was over 50 mins of driveing on dual carrageways b roads ect none of the way could he keep up the same was repeated all day i know they preform better with the full remus exhaust on he had a cat back miltek but still should have had above std bhp with that on

the guy in the Astra needs to learn to drop a gear or two

Cue the 'Racing on Public Roads' debate  Seriously though, great pics and a good day out by the looks of it.

I've had comments from a few big petrol car owners at filling stations when they have pulled in behind to get fuel. Usually "What the hell does that Skoda have under the bonnet."

lol ye hes only owned it 18 months as well

That's the ticket, or rather not in this case as you were being sensible :D

today was the first day i got to drive it "steady" since i got the remap as the roads where dry and i tell you what the strut brace was well worth the money

Really good photos!!

I do think the vRS surprises a lot of people on the road, in my experience in straight lines between 30-60mph and if you get the right gear and you have a remap you can make good progress. Even so, I'm amazed an Astra VXR had trouble keeping up, I'm with Sausage Roll on this one, I think driving style/ability counts for a lot.

very true cant argue with that one

With that number plate it could well have been Jason Plato from fifth gear, and champion touring car driver.

Lovely pics Si B)

LOL, you and your 'beating' of VXR Astra's! Its cute really.

Nice pics all the same, but tell ya mate in his Astra to retire from driving please.

strange how you quote 'beating', yet he never claimed to? :giggle:

Nice photies, although my eyes were drawn to the vxr8
