Strange Noise on Start Up

Featured Replies

Hello People,

After some advice with regards to my Fabia vRS 07 plate.

The issue is when i turn the key in the ignition to the second stage (the stage were all the lights come on the screen) i can hear a strange grinding noise/fizzing noise which only last 1-2 seconds. It does it everytime i start it. A passenger said that it sounded like it was coming from the rear arch area (they were stood at the rear of the vehice (fuel cap side). If it is coming somewhere from the rear (fuel cap side) could it be something to do with the fuel line?

The car runs fine, it just this noise is annoying me!

Any help would be brilliant.

Also on another note, i understand there is a Eibach kit out for the fabia vRS, the ones i have seen on the internet are only 20mm drops. I have been told that eibach do a 35mm-40mm drop as well, if they do could someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I think its the fuel system priming its self. Mine does it but it comes from under the sill by the drivers door. The fuel heater is under there (long thin silver thing)

Thanks for the reply,

Thats what i thought it could have been, just wanted to check in case my poor car was ill.

Thanks again,

Chris

Usually called 'The Sploosh" Makes my mate laugh when it does it, sounds like the car is taking a leak :D

Mine only does it once the fuel level is down to just above 1/2 a tank. Used to have Rover 214 that would moo for no reason, even when switched off. :o

Haha my car "Splooshes"... love it! Yeh it does sound like it's taking a leak.

Mine is less than half a tank now, will keep my ears open when i fill it up and see if it does it then.

Thanks to all who replied, i am a happy bunny knowing theres nothing wrong with the car :D

Mine does it too, regardless of fuel level, quite loud actually. That sort of splooshy sound again, as above. When I first got the car I was like haha, strange. Never been in any other car where the fuel pump makes that noise when it's priming!

Haha, the old rovers used to 'Moo' to keep the fuel system pressurised for some reason.

I think it was to help prevent the fuel degrading over time.

I can remember sleeping next to one in a tent, just as you were dropping off.. then... "MOOOOO".... :wonder:

Dave.

The Eibach's drop the vRS by 25mm, What you have to bear in mind its the vRS sits on lowered suspension already!

So a vRS on Eibachs will sit 35mm lower than say a 1.9tdi Eleganceemoticon-0105-wink.gif

MIne does it when the tank is around the ½ full mark.

Hmmm not sure whether to get the eibach kit or go lower than that. Dont really want to get coilovers, but want a nice drop to get rid of the horrible gap in the arch area!
