Rear Bump Stops

Featured Replies

Hey Everybody,

I had my car back from the stealers yesterday with associated fault list including the item Rear bump stops split - £304.04 inc" I've used the search and come up with the below threads (albeit not for a Fabia vRS) that suggest to even pay half this price would be a bit steep.

Is there a huge amount of work involved on a Fabia vRS that should mean it costs so much? I'll be going back to the garage for a breakdown but would appreciate the opinions of a few people from here first.

Sounds well over priced to me.

The rear bump stops are less than a tenner each and would take less than half an hour to fit, there must be something else? New shocks perhaps?

I wouldn't have paid that, thats scandalous if thats all they did.

I've not paid it, its the advisory note on the invoice.

I'll dropped an email to the garage asking for a breakdown so I'll keep you updated. Cheers for the response.

Always better to check these things out than just sign the cheque.........

I need these doing on mine too (VRS) told by D M Keith in Bradford it was £89 fully fitted for both.

That would be more like it. I would do it myself though....

Just leave em or glue them back together - the ones on our Fabia have been shot for about 4 years with no detriment (split in two where they neck in. However if you want you can epoxy them back together or cable tie them back together...

I was advised mine needed replacing at my last service and was quoted £99 for both and that was from a skoda dealer !

Still havent had them done but I will be doing them myself !

The garage has come back to me and said they've used the wrong labour rate which added over £100 to the cost. Fair enough.

They still reckon 1.2hrs per side though. Just doesn't seem to add up. :wonder: :wonder: :wonder:

No

That is well overpriced

Ask them how one dealer can do it for £89 and another for £99 and they want £200 +

Sorry , it does not sound like they are looking after you

I replaced the rear bumpstops on my octavia myself and it took me about 1.5 hours including tea breaks and I didn't rush!

The cost of the bump stops and replacement of the bolts involved came to about £40.

Another local dealer has quoted me £87 all-in to do the work. I've been back to my local garage and put this to them. They've insisted they can't compete with that and I should take they alternative price.

According to them its 1.2 hrs per side as the shocks need to be removed. I've booked the car in with the new garage. I won't name names as the old place has always given what I think to be good service in the past including a discount off their labour rate.

I wish I had the skills to do this myself but most of all I'm glad I checked on here first before paying well over the odds. Thanks to everyone that has replied.:thumbup::thumbup:

or £20 for 2 years.....

even more of a saving ;);)

I replaced my rear bump stops last year, pretty sure it was under £20 for the pair - One of the most challenging bits was removing the wheel arch liner trying to find the torx screws! I remember the nuts on the top of the dampers being a b1tch to undo as well but got there in the end with a bit of perseverance.

Took me a couple hours to do both sides.

Good luck bud, John

that is insain!

had mine done afew weeks ago and it cost me 90 somthing quid fitted by Dub! tell them where to shove it!
