horrible sound over bumps

Featured Replies

My vrs is still making a horrible noise from the near side front corner when I go over speed bumps or big bumps in the road. It only seems to do it when both sides are subjected to a bump and not if only the 1 side goes over a large bump, I’ve replaced the console bushes with cupra ones. The only think I think it could be something do to with the anti roll bar if so how hard is it change them bushes and is it worth replacing with powerflex ones

any body got any suggestions what i could try or do

Might help if you describe the noise a bit? creak? clonk?

The collars on the VRS anti roll bar were originally made of plastic and tend to split over time causing clonkage. Is a revised part with metal ones, so could be that. Could also be drop links, although probably less likely

The only way I can describe the noise is it sounds just like a broken mattress

Have a look at your front springs - the Ibiza's have a habit of breaking at the top.

Have had a similar problem for a while. Mine is in the garage at the moment having the the rear bushes on the front wishbone replaced. They were in a sorry state.

he's replaced his...

Check console rear bushes.

I have the same problem, Garage could'nt find it so I just turn the radio up LOL Cant be nothing serious. I has told it might be just be the anti role bar bushes that might need replacing but they look fine and nothing to worry about.

Im glad that wasn't a video........it sounded rather bed like :o

 yeah I did think twice about posting that. They were the powerflex arb bushes. Had them relubed and they've started creaking again 2-3 months later so i just live with it, can join my clonks and rattles

I have ordered a complete set of front bushes (SEAT Cupra console, Powerflex front and ARB) from Awesome Gti to be fitted next week. Do the powerflex bushes squeak from new? Do they need some form of lube as well or do they get noisy over time?

hi, did you get to the bottom of this ? mine is doing the same on the drivers side, sort of a single clunk from around the footwell area but like you said when going over bumps with either wheel usually over 30/40 mph. No noise though at all over speed bumps.
