Bluetooth GSM III Premium - Yes or No?

Featured Replies

Again, it doesn't matter what radio you have in the car, the Bluetooth kit is separate from the stereo. The bluetooth module is controlled by whatever headunit you have in the car.

I would however expect that even with GSM II you would have some options in Maxidot, anyone care to share their experiences of this kit?

It depends on what market you are in as to which phone kit you get. It sounds like Skoda Eygpt have stuck with the GSM II phone kit.

I purposely didn't order the factory kit as I knew the UK model comes with GSM III which wouldn't work with my phone. If your phone works with GSM III then it is the better quality kit for voice calls, but if you rely on your phone for data, for example, to get traffic updates for your TomTom or similar then it's not as useful.

If the factory kit when I ordered my car in the UK was GSM II then I would have ordered it. At the end of the day, if you can make hands free calls then the kit is doing it's job...

thanx for all that explaining, I'm more aware now of the issue i had

i don't know if skoda Egypt have only GSM II or not casue i think a friend of mine had an octavia befor me and was talking about the sms function, I will aske them.

on the Maxidot under the phone section i have the phone book and the missed calls and dialled calls and incoming calls i guse , but not bluetooth options as it said in the manual about the GSM III to search for devices from the car kit and disconnect the device also from the car and select ring tones

well sure the hands-free works fine with me , and the Bolero screan also make the phone display very nice

but i thought those other options and the sms functions r cool ..i don't know .. make it really hands-free ..not to check sms during driving..thats all.

can we update to GSMIII or its a hardware issue?

can we update to GSMIII or its a hardware issue?

I don't know, but I think it's a different hardware set so I would have thought it's unlikely. Someone else may know better though

So if i just received my car and i found out the the car kit is GSM II and i want III ... what can i do ?

go to skoda and order a replacement ? :S

Does GSM II have integrated microphone? GSM III does, while the gsm box is under the seat, so the module of GSM II can be swapped to III but integrated mic, thats another question.

This guy http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccopedia/index.php?title=Change_rSAP_to_Bluetooth has swapped GSM III to normal bluetooth without loosing functionality of III

dont know really about the Mic, im new about all this

but that guy, well he did the opposite of what i was thinking to do ..to replace the GSM II with III

he is saying that only Nokia devices would work with GSM III but i think this is not true and my htc would work fine as it have Rsap

Ofcourse i just gave the link to show you how the box look and where it is. HTC (winMo) supports rSap and compatible phones are here in german but you can see the models: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSAP

I can have access to everything e.g. phonebook, sms etc.

The problem that I have is that I cannot get the sms's back to my phone. I tried to copy them, the cas says copied to the phone but then I cannot see them. I have tryied with my friend's htc touch 3G and I can have the sms's back to the phone.

Anyone can help me found the correct settings?

Thanks a lot.

This has probably been answered else where but I haven't been able to find it,

What are the part numbers for GSM II and GSM III

I keep reading that there is a newer version of teh GSM III is it a firmware update or a whole new part, if so what is the part number?

I just got my vRS last saturday with the Columbus Satnav and MDI and want to install Bluetooth. Skoda and Volkswagen don't seem to know what the difference is between them all here in Australia as far as I know with whom I've talked to.

HD2 works perfectly with Rsap, you just have to have the most up to date ROM 1.66WWE I have both, HD2 is an awesome device until it dies, just make sure you regularly back it all up with SPB Backup or similar
