The only time I can think of is if you forget your Ipod/MP3 player/USB HD unit or SD card & you're in a tunnel (Eurotunnel) or black spot for radio.

Any Blackberry users, who can confirm that blackberry works with GSM III Premium?

My Blackberry DOESN'T work with it....

Working BB rSap models: Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Curve 8900, Curve 8520, Storm 9500, Storm 9520

Uh, tnx!

I have 8310 (no rSAP) but thinking of buying 9700, so there should be no problems then ...

hi guys

I'm using HTC Pro 2 and it pair nicely with the Bolero with full phone book, missed calls, dialled calls ,.... so on

but i don't know why i don't have the full options of my Bolero bluetooth

1st i don't have a setup menu in the phone to search for new devices or disconnect the device from it !!!!!!!

the Radio just connect automatically with my HTC which nice but why i don'nt have such menu as it present in the car manual

2nd the sms function is not working at all, and the sms section in the phone menu is not present

and cause the phone is on hands-free the new sms sound is Mute :S so i have no idea i got sms while iam driving

i don't care of reading sms on my radio screan, but i want some sort of notification that i've got new sms :wonder:

can any one know why i don't have those things?

and is there any solution for the sms notification issue ?

thanx guys

1st: Can't you turn the bluetooth off? Then the phone can not be connected to the car.

That kind of defeats the purpose of a bluetooth hands free system though....

Sure, i meant there are times when he doesn't want his phone connected to the car.

exactly

so any idea why i can't turn it off from the car ?

Hmm, I think the car kit is setup to be always "on" with no way to disable, save physically unplugging it.

I've got a HTC Touch Diamond2 (basically non keyboard version of the TP2) and if you go the Settings Tab and then Wireless Controls, there's a toggle button there for Bluetooth. If you think you need to turn bluetooth on and off that much you can always map a button to it directly as a shortcut. (e.g. I've setup a long press of the answer call button to take me straight to the Wireless Controls Menu - but thats predominantly for toggling Wi-Fi).

I can only say for GSM III which uses rSap - you control it from the MFD.

Here you have the ability to switch the GSM III off if you want to as well as customising the set up, such as ring tone & volume, how contacts are displayed (e.g. first name, last name or last name, first name) etc.

Also, you can receive sms text on the car unit - it will alert you in nte MFD display.

You can then read it and if required copy it to the portable SIM card.

There are also options for GPRS modem, headset etc. but I haven't investigated these yet!

Lastly, you can voice tag memories (contacts), but I haven't got round to findiong out how you voice dial.

Anyone tried HTC Desire, does everything works with GSM III Premium?

A while ago, Android OS didnt support rSAP, so has anything changed lately?

i thought my htc pro 2 is GSM III !!!!! :S

in the car manual it said that GSM II make you only use fands-free , but with GSM III u can have the caller ID, SIM and phone book, miss calls , dialled , ect... beside all what u just said from sms and setup

i do have rSap , and i do have access to my phone book and Sim, and every thing

but i don't have what u have ...i dont have the sms function working..and i dont have the bluetooth setup menu

whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :'(

I might be missing something here, but you do have the factory fit car kit fitted don't you?

Bolero doesn't have a separate phone kit.

Sorry if I've misunderstood.

No rSAP on Android yet.

Can confirm that the Blackberry 8900 works perfectly.

yes its the factory fit car kit

and i still dont know why others have sms function and i don't

and why others have bluetooth setup in the phone menu and i don't :S

is the problem in the Bolero ?? old software may be ?? or the problem in the phone ?? :S

But is your factory kit, the GSM II or the GSM III?

I don't have either, but I presume there are differences between them, and maybe that is one of them...

I have the Fiscon kit which also supports SMS, but that doesn't show up for me because my phone doesn't support it and when I had Windows Mobile phones in the past they didn't support SMS on the phone kits I had in cars either... If I pair my ancient Nokia to the kit, the SMS feature becomes available so i know it works...

The bluetooth is not in the Bolero, the Bolero is just used as a control interface for the bluetooth kit.

Does your phone still have data access when connected to the car? If it does, you have the GSM II phone kit, if not, then you have the GSM III car kit.

I would be extremely surprised if you have SMS access through the handsfree profile (used on the GSM II) on a modern Windows Mobile phone, but not having used as rSAP module I don't know if that would work or not.

i'm sorry can u explain to me again how to know if i have GSM II or III again !!!

if i have data access when i connect to the car ? what dose that means ?

and is'nt the phone book access is only for GSM III only ? and i do have the phone book and SIM contact and missed calls and dialled calles.

Address book should be accessible on both GSM II and GSM III handsfree kits but the GSM III effectively diables the phone access as it uses a different bluetooth profile called rSAP (remote SIM Access Protocol).

If your phone checks email or you can browse the web when it is connected to the car kit then you have the GSM II as this uses the older (more compatible) Handsfree bluetooth profile. If you can no longer connect to the internet on your phone when connected to the car kit you'll havethe GSM III kit

mmmmm then I have GSM II car kit :wonder:

now i got it

but why is that ? my car is 2010 elegance with Bolero radio, shouldn't they install the GSM III in it ? :wonder:

can i do something about that ? or shall i settle with the GSM II ? :|

Again, it doesn't matter what radio you have in the car, the Bluetooth kit is separate from the stereo. The bluetooth module is controlled by whatever headunit you have in the car.

I would however expect that even with GSM II you would have some options in Maxidot, anyone care to share their experiences of this kit?

It depends on what market you are in as to which phone kit you get. It sounds like Skoda Eygpt have stuck with the GSM II phone kit.

I purposely didn't order the factory kit as I knew the UK model comes with GSM III which wouldn't work with my phone. If your phone works with GSM III then it is the better quality kit for voice calls, but if you rely on your phone for data, for example, to get traffic updates for your TomTom or similar then it's not as useful.

If the factory kit when I ordered my car in the UK was GSM II then I would have ordered it. At the end of the day, if you can make hands free calls then the kit is doing it's job...
