Bluetooth GSM III Premium - Yes or No?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if GSM III Premium works with Blackberry and HTC phones becouse of rSAP?

Beside the phonebook and sms view on maxidot is there any other advantage over GSM II?

With Bolero, what do I see on bolero screen when using GSM II/III ?

Tnx for the info ...

Works with my HTC, you get to see who is calling, get quick one touch dialing, better signal (antenna on roof). Mutes radio as well. Bolero shows signal strength, touch memories for commonly dialed numbers, phone book. GSM2 is just a handsfree like a headset.

You also get voice control and buttons on wheel for dialing/hang up.

So if I get it for the same price as GSM II I should get it and have no problems connecting it to newest HTC/Blackberry phones?

By the way, which HTC model do you have connected to it?

I read in the broshure compatibility list for Skoda bluetooth that 3G prhones does not work as they are unable to switch to rsnap mode, that true? But than again, there is no HTC phones listed that works with Skoda ...

Do I need MDI to connect to GSMIII or no?

GSM 3 works over Bluetooth, I have the TyTN2 on Wm 6.1 and its perfect. You can't get GSM2 with the vRS,not sure about other models. MDI is for mp3s and is another option which I did'nt bother with. Can't see the point as I use a 16Gb SD card in the Bolero!

As long as the phone has RSAP then GSMIII will work with...........

As long as the phone has RSAP then GSMIII will should work with...........

Without testing it, you can't be 100% certain it will work. For example there are some Nokias with rsap that don't work unless the firmware is at a certain revision....

My HTC HD2 works and connects everytime its a wonderful system. Its at the moment away for repair so I'm using a samsung tocco which is rsap but it does not connect everytime and is a real PITA

HTC HD2 is my favorite when I will be buying a new phone, but it has such a large screen, that you almost don't need all the benefits of GSM III, if you have it on the stand it's almost the size of Bolero screen! :-)

Have one other question, on GSM III Premium, can I connect others phones that doesn't support RSAP via ordinary GSM II connection, just to have sound over speakers? Or is GSM III limited to RSAP connect ONLY?

RSAP only.

Have another question ...

Is it possible to use any standard Bluetooth Headset (connected to phone and GSM III Preminum) via Bolero screen and wheel commands as if there are a lot of people in the car, you need some privacy ... ?

TNX

No as the phone is shut down, the car becomes the phone and there is no way of pairing a headset to the car. (RSAP only!)

Not quiet true, yes your phone is shut down, but it is possible to pair a bluetooth headset with the GSM3 RSAP kit and use that instead of having the phone audio over the car speakers. If you look through the maxidot display under phone you should find the option to pair the headset. The RSAP kit is after all a mobile phone in its own right, and you can pair the same devices with it that you can a normal mobile.

Good morning.

I am a little confused.

I am looking at buying an L & K, and the only bluetooth option I can find related to the steering wheel. Am I missing somehting. People seem to be talking about different options. Besided the steering wheel, is the main difference as to whether I choose the Columbus Sat Nav?

(4 spoke multifunction steering wheel with audio and phone controls + Bluetooth)

Just found elsewhere on the site that the iphone should work from week 22 as there is a new software update going on. Does anybody know any more about this.

if you spec this wheel, and want bluetooth functionality, assuming its not in the standard spec for the trim you want to buy then you must also spec the bluetooth kit which is extra to the wheel.

I think when paired with the iphone the kit will function as the earlier kit in that it will be paired using the HFP, meaning the iphone is used to make and recieve calls whereas using RSAP protocal the car makes and recieves the calls bypassing the physical phone altogether.

Very happy to hear that! :)

Have you or anyone else actually try that and can confirm that it works?

I was wondering if GSM Premium III can to connect to 2 devices over bluetooth at the same time (phone and headset), so if it's possible, this should really work I suppose ...

I have no idea which OEM bluetooth module I have. All I know is I bought in Feb '08 when Skoda weren't speccing in them in the UK so it was an imported retro-fit.

I have a HTC Touch Diamond2 which originally came with WM6.1 and is now on WM6.5. At all times it has been able to pair fine with the module and I have had full services via Maxidot. Sometimes the Phonebook or Call Lists will disappear (I assume they're updating or something) but they always come back on their own within a minute or so. I naively never realised there was a potential problem!

I will try my blackberry later if you like. I have an 8900. The comment about 3g is not true. My N86 has 3g and works fine.

The comment in the Brochure is phones on the 3 network, not 3g phones...

I'm assuming that 3 branded phones have this functionality removed, but I can't check as I'm not on that network...

Ah I see - makes sense! Just noticed your only in brum

I'm waiting to see which gets fitted to my car courtesy of Ben @ shark.

My confusion was that nowhere in the standard brochure does it mention anything about bluetooth, except for the time in the extras on the steering wheel.

I have just done a search on teh skoda site, and I have found the 'dealer accessories' book whcih shows the aftermarket kit that they fit, whcih I presume goes about the head.

Will try and get into a dealer tomorrow as there seems to be a lot of confusion, and whoever I order the car from will have to document to me that the iphone will work.

If you're worried about the Iphone working, may I make two suggestions?

1/ Buy a "Sim Free" Nokia 5800, that way you can just swap out the sim card in the Iphone & pop it in the 5800, which has rSAP capability.

2/ Buy a FISCON system, which works in the same way as the Skoda OEM stuff, but has a bit more compatibility with mobiles & I've just checked it on the fiscon site & it is compatible with the Iphone.

What about playing music from phone over Bluetooth (GSM III Premium) to Bolero. As I have read somewhere, with some Nokias it works fine, anyone know if Blackberry 9700 works in that way?

No idea, but why would you want to Bluetooth music across for, when you can have MDI or use the AUX socket?
