Lorry pushes car sideways at 60mph

Featured Replies

me and our lass were in a traffic jam the other week and watched a daf driver nudge the 206 cc in front of him 7 or 8 times before he realised she was there. i have been driving class 2 for several years now and have noticed that the blind spots are different in all lorrys but thought artics were fitted with a front blindspot mirrror above the windscreen angled down the front of the cab, to make sure you can see anything in front or is that just newer cabs??

after 2005 iirc, front visibility in a daf is very poor,my scania is much better

I am a newbie to Class 1 stuff and I must admit having driven RM DAF CF's both old (54) and new (59) you can see an awful lot. but nothing that is within 6ft of you. the newer ones are better with the front mirrors so you dont need to get out to check your head lights lol.

I find it hard to believe that the driver didnt see anything but I can also see how its done. I personally like to have the seat up pritty high but a lot of drivers Ive seen have the seat low down so it feels more like a car position. when sat like that as said the dash is fight there so if your short that could mean that the driver cant see anything within 6-8 ft infront of the unit.

As a lorry driver you need to be SO vigilant and I find myself looking round and in the mirrors more than looking fwd. constantly checking whats around you.

complacency on the Motorway is unfortunate and looks to me like that is what happened.

Ill also add that I loved the DAF CF sleepers the RM use. Not a fan of the MANs or the DAF XF. you think the vis is limited on the CF lol, get in the XF and see then.
