Eek! Cold start warnings....

Featured Replies

Only the car's 2nd really cold morning and I was greeted by my dash lighting up in a festive, christmas tree type way and lots of beeps.

Specifically Steering assist (yellow), ASR (yellow), ABS (yellow), Engine Management (yellow) and big red excalmation mark (handbrake?). Stopped at a garage down the road for some fags, got back in, all okay except engine management light still on - I assume this is because the computer detected a fault and needs to be reset?

Fuel economy and everything seemed okay on the 30 mile drive to work.

Any ideas? And if the comp. just needs resetting do I have to get down to a dealers (or is there someone int he Hemel/MK region with VAG-COM and a spare five minutes? ;) )

I have no idea what it could be but I think that the fact it was the first cold start is just a coincidence. Mine started fine last winter after several nights sitting in -10 conditions. Plus the fact that its a Skoda and Chzech is a bloomin cold place!!

I would take ti to the dealer and ask them to investigate.

Cheers,

Ross.

Is the car standard or do you have a tuning box fitted?

my two educated guesses are 1. lambda probe or 2. temp sensor

My thoughts as well although the cheap resistor type tuning boxes that fit on the temp sensor can also cause the same symptoms.

Not going to be a lambda probe on a Fabia vRS, could be a temp sensor but can't say i've changed any on the diesels in a long time.

Odd one that, if you need a diag check try Pillings in Milton Keynes, im sure I can fit you in ;) Send me a PM if you need more info.
