Pete,

Did you get this pic out of a Euro mag because that kit will only fit on a left hand drive car. Still very nice kit all the same.

As declac says, that kit wil only fit LHD and 2WD cars iirc.

With that down pipe anyhow, whould need to be re routed for RHD and re thought for 4WD I would think.

Unless you are a clever sod like someone I know, 4x4 or 2WD. I've been in his 4x4 S3 GT28rs conversion today and......

The kit in the picture is the display model.

The GT28RS kits that will be suplied and fitted by JBS will of course fit RHD UK cars.

Did both an S3 with an IHI turbo conversion and a GT turbo on a Golf with 4x4 transfer box. Neither were particualy fun when it come to routing the downpipe.

A certain Golf with the Sportec turbo kit from Switzerland with a modded RS2 turbo on it needed some creative bulkhead work to clear the turbo etc, its all good fun.

So in the euro/american one above, which bit clashes and which is the downpipe , the black one or the stainless one ?

And am i right in thinking that the kit places the bigger turbo towards the top of the engine bay ?

Sorry for the questions but it's jolly interesting stuff :D

Well the turbo will fit but you could say that about any turbo that size.

The down pipe is the one on the left with the flexi joint at the top of the pic.

The black pipe is the intake pipe.

The set up shown puts the turbo towards the bulkhead which it hits AIR.

PS None of the oil lines fit the Octy either and you have to makeup new water lines.

easy DIY swap then Des

Josh, am I right in thinking this conversion will be going into James's Octavia once he's got the forged pistons and the time to do it?

Not to mention the new down pipe, intake pipe, boost pipe etc you will have to make. All in all that pic bears no resemblance to the real world install in an Ocy.

Del:

You have to remember that JBS don't just do Octy's lol.

Dave:

I'm not sure if it's going on or not to be honest. I think he'd be daft not to though!!

Josh,

I have the greatest respect for james and JBS and what they are trying to do but this kit will not fit any right hand drive 1.8T vehicle with out a lot of work Octy or not. Thinking about it, it may fit an in line 1.8T.

That said there is nothing like having a go.

But it says the kit is for Octy's as well... :)

Josh any idea on power outputs and pricing? I would guess that as the kit pictured isn't for a UK setup that they've not tried it yet - or have they?

delcac;- Who is running the s3 with the gt28rs?JBS?

I think the picture shown is as josh says, just for display purposes, last time i spoke to james he mentioned that he was developing a manifold for rhd cars, dont really understand the ins and out as it was a bit over my head but im sure if you wanted info,James would be happy to explain

Impossible Performance have converted an S3 with a gt28/71rs turbo, I was in it yesterday. I cannot begin to explain what this car feels like and sounds like.

Any idea of output and cost? Can't wait to hear how the vRS proto goes.

Hello Chris,

Mike never puts his cars on the rollers unless you request it, chuffing fast is what they are. The RS has hit a stumbling block the rods and pistons have not arrived. :( but the turbo is on. It should be the same power as the S3, don't know about the cost.

very interesting topic

what about spool time? at what rpms and what power?

any dyno plot available? any witnesses to describe?

this is the turbo of my choice, but everybody here in greece says that gt28rs will 'sleep' until way up in the rpm range

can someone please enlighten me?

Looking at all the measureing equipment in the car it spools up at 3K but at 3.2K it's kicking a*s, that just tells you how fast it builds boost. You have to keep your eye on the revs cos your round to 7K in blink. Lots of witnesses unfortunately not from this forum, even had a Skoda technician there having a chip done at the time. Just to say that this is a gt28/71rs not just a 28rs.

Dont let the pictures confuse you.

Just for show..

There's a RHD version James is working on I'm sure.

GT28RS being the basis probably.

should be good when its up and running.
