How much do you pay on 5w 40 fully snyth oil

Featured Replies

interested to How much does everyone pay for their oil? 505.01 VW spec oil for the Vrs.

I was paying £20-£25 for quantum oil(ebay), but have used Opie as well but usually works out to £35 inc delivery for motul or fuches.

Now pay about £12- £14 for 5 litres depending on which brand. Amazing how much distributors mark there prices up.

Where are you getting that? Does it meet 505.01?

I have just paid £27 for a 5l bottle of Millers XFE-PD at a local Motor Factors. After I bought it I saw it at £25 at Motorscope in Northalerton. The oil is a semi-synthetic type.

The company i work for deals with oils.

yes its 505.01 spec and suitable for PD engines. The brands are Millers, havoline or Q8. Fuchs are around that price too and certainly alot cheaper than what they are sold for in motorfactors and other online suppliers.

I just bought Quantum Oil from AVS / VWSpares, was delivered next day and the total came to £65 for 5L of Oil + Oil, Air, Fuel & Pollen Filters + a sump plug/washer. Fitted them all this afternoon.

The Quantum stuff is good. It's basically VW/Skoda rebranded

Well I think that you will find that Quantum is someone's oil packaged for sale by VAG as that is the name for their "non VAG" sourced aftermarket stuff - a bit like Ford's Motorcraft brand and Vauxhalls similar aftermarket stuff (forgotten their name) - I'm not knocking it as I use Quantum Gold and now Quantum Platinum in my B5 Passat 2.8 V6, but one thing that all these aftermarket brands seem to have in common is, they only sell "mult fit" wiper blades - just like what you buy for general use out of Halford's etc - now that can be a bit annoying once you have been mugged by a dealer by getting charged almost VAG "real thing" prices.

i work for a very large car company and we have a TPS account, we do thousands in bodywork with them every month so we are probably on top tier discount, the platinum isnt £12, not even exc vat

they were selling off the old PD stuff cheap (~£12) when platinum came out, but id imagine that stock went months ago, id imagine staff dont even get it @ £12
