N75 Valve question

Featured Replies

hi there all

i have 3 questions about these valves ?

1 is the standard valve capable of revo stage 2 remap

2 what do other people think of the J valve what has it done for you

3 is the ECS race valve better than the J valve and why

the reason i ask is that i am running the J valve at the moment on my octy vrs but i am thinking of upgradeing to the ECS race valve but i dont know wich is the best.

the standard n75 is nice and smooth but feels like it is leaking on boost (car feels like its backing off)

the n75 J is great but the acceleration is straight away and feels great but the boost is instant and i'm worried i may break something (but very smooth through the revs).

i am hopeing that the ECS one is a bit smoother than the J valve on take off but simlar through the revs.

any feedback will be helpfull

Hi There,

Yes the standard N75 is capable of a REVO 2 remap.

No experience of the J valve, but understand it brings on stronger boost more quicker and then runs out quicker than the standard valve. Some folks like the J valve as it suits there boost curves.

A number of issues have been found with standard N75 from poor hestitation and on / off boost on remapped cars, but some folks have had no problems.

I have the ECS race valve, which i understand it to be the "H" valve. It runs very well with the mods I have including REVO stage 2. I have a forge DV with yellow spring and have very good progressive boost. Lot stronger than with the standard N75 valve,

I have heard that the "H" valve is actually more agressive than the "J" type. and that boost spikes can happen.

Sorry if this does not make things clear, but it seems to be a variable on different cars.

I went with my set up as very happy with results.

cheers

hi all

thanks for the info

i think that the ECS is in the pipeline :p

and yes i agree the J valve does run out to early power all used up by 4k hence all my questions ,

just trying to find the right one for me i think i should have gone ECS first time

me thinks me J valve is going on ebay

thanks for helping :thumbup::rofl:

Awesome sell ECS stuff.

Ive been thinking about changing the this valve been not sure what too . I can feel the hestitation and on / off boost , not sure what to change it to a 'F' again or go for a stronger one .

Any ideas ?

I'm going to ask a stupid question now but I'm typing and not stopping....

Standard car, standard N75? Not that I know what I have on it already!

Should be a standard valve on a standard car. The J versions usually have a partly brown plastic casing.

One or two members on here have tried a J valve on a standard car with either no noticable difference or worse running. It really needs to be remapped and running higher boost before trying a non-standard N75.

Hi guys

Don't wish to hijack the thread but since reading this i am now puzzled as to what to do.

I am running an '02 vrs with custom map by TR Racing, ABD CAI and forge 007p DV with yellow spring. The boost delivery is not always smooth with occasional hesitation but is somthing i have lived with as she appears to run well overall and goes like **** off of that famous polished shovel.(have done the usual clean out the TB and don't think i have any boost leaks etc...)

Based on the above, should i try an uprated N75 (would prob go for the ECS part from Awesome if best??) or is there too much risk from things like boost spiking?

Really cofused now so any suggestions greatly appreciated

From what I've read on other VAG forums the ECS valve can create over boost on some vehicles and cause the ECU to go into limp mode.

I looked into all this stuff a few years ago after my car was custom remaped and started to sufer from boost surge in high gears..... luckily it settled down to an acceptable level while I was trying to fix it (or maybe I just got used to it  )

But the conclusion I came to was.... my car was sufering compressor surge brought about by the N75 valve circuit not being able to operate correctly at more than twice std/designed boost levels.

I did considered replacing the std N75 for one with an alternative duty cycle, or replacing the waste gate actuator for one with a smaller dia diaphram, and even fitting a 1.5mm restrictor in the N75 feed pipe in an attempt to damp down the N75 system.

HTH

What would be best as im bit at a crossroads with this . Would it be best to swap it for the standard 'F' again or upgrade it , but i dont fancy the boost peaking at 4000rpm because now it runs round to the limiter .

The car has been stood most of its life before i brought it 2 years ago and just thought it mine be blocked or sticking due to it stood and having the 17705 problem .

hi all

many thanks for all the help on this subject it seems to be a big issue for most of us

these are my findings

1 standard valve works great through the revs but a slight hesitation (not much though and i can live with it) and hey we all want something better dont we so

2 after loads of research i decided to buy the J valve and this was great with instant boost but ran out at 4k (no good for me but i got no hesitation)

3 then i decide to buy the ECS race spec and to be honnest the boost was allover the place the car did not know what to do boost up boost down all the time (not impressed)

4 i then went out and got the n75 H genuine as this is supposed to be the same as the ECS but thought i would try it and yes i got the same as above (not impressed)

so currently i have after all this i am running the standard n75 F but i am going to do the n249 and n112 and sai removal to stop the ecu backing off the boost and then i will run the ECS race spec valve (the sticker looks good) and see how that goes hopefully a load better .

but for the time being the standard fit will have to do :(

many thanks again for all your input
