Superchips bhp?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have got a Fabia vRS, and had it re-mapped by superchips, they quote the power upgrade to 167bhp and 284 ft/lb. I have timed 0-60 at 7.16 secs, this seems a bit fast for 167bhp, has anyone had one on a rollling road to get a true power reading?

Also how come everyone is going AMD and Jaba? I have just looked at the power curves for the AMD map, and it quotes standard maximum power is 140 bhp at 3199 RPM, I'm sure maximum power is at about 4000rpm?

Welcome

I don't know of anyone else here with a superchipped fabia vrs, but if there is one, he'll surely make himself known :)

In terms of performance with 0-60, it's very misleading. IMHO, 7.16secs isn't too fast for 167bhp. It's all down to how heavy the car is (which the fabia is quite a lot for its size - due to the TDI lump) and how you use that awesome torque :D

Happy motoring :)

Its just I have seen people quoting 200 BHP out of a Pug 306 and 0-60 of 7.7. Also a Seat 130 Tdi with a 175BHP re-map doing it in 7.5. Not that I'm complaining!

Where did you get the Superchip? And is it the actual 'change chip' job or via the OBD?

Got it done in Nottingham, 'Prema Racing' they just flashed the chip as I wanted to keep it standard for insurance etc....!

Umm, but it IS modified...

naughty !! :nono:

Sorry F.A.B. vRS but you're not going to make many friends on here. You're why I pay more for insurance every year.

Harsh but fair I thought. Geoff?

Can't disagree Rich.

We've had this discussion time & time again, chips & remaps may carry "invisible" claims, but the can be found if an InsCo wants to look hard enough.

Unless you have an "any mods" deal from your insurer, then an undeclared mod = Invalid insurance.

Not bothered about the un-insured driver, it's the wife & family of the poor sod he kills i care about.

Well I can't speak for superchips but the AMD one click gives about 185+ bhp and around 290ftlb of torque all for

The power figures for the superchips however do seem very low

Lower than standard in some cases. Different car but even prompting some tuners, after a test drive, to ask 'Are you sure this is chipped? Did you see him do it?'

FAO F.A.B. vRS. I hope you think again and come back. Even though you've got a Fabia :D We tend to do things 'the right way' on here and you are most welcome to join in.

Well said Geoff. My feelings entirely

nice to see someone get off to a good start!! lol welcome onboard if you dare to stay that is!

I would advise my insurance company if I was you, to me IMHO it's not worth the chance of them not paying out. After all this is a
