New member, thinking of buying an Octavia Est

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just started looking for a replacement for my Alfa 159 Ti 2.4 Sport Wagon, as its time to start thinking with my head rather than my heart, and I am hoping to get some advice.

As you can probably guess I am looking for one of the faster cars and my engine shortlist is the 2.0PD, the 2.0CR or the 1.8Tsi.

How do you think these engines comapre?

What would be a typical mpg?

Are any of the colours particularly prone to stone chipping?

Are there any specific issues I should look out for?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

Gary

unless you do big miles or like the diesel engine I'd go for the 1.8TSi as its a great engine. Quicker than the 2.0CR diesel (as my uncle often likes to comment on!)

Get yourself over to the Octavia section and there is plently of stuff to read up on!

And lastly welcome to Briskie!

Thanks, how realistic is the stated mpg on the 1.8? the Alfas never come anywhere near the quoted values and on my car I get around 34mpg when the book says it should be 41. Is there a DSG option on the 1,8?
