Another iPhone Thread.....

Right, since my last phone broke, i've been on a pay as you go cheap and nasty phone.

But more and more i'm being tempted by an iphone.

I'm already on o2, and pay about £20 a month, and looking at their website, i can get a reconditioned 3G, on a £30 a month tariff, for that i'd get..

Free iPhone 3G

100 mins (which i probably wouldn't use)

Unlimited text

Unlimited Data & Wi-fi.

Obviously this is for a 3G, not a 3Gs,

If i were to go for the same tariff on a new 3Gs (recon not available) it would be £179 for the phone.

Is getting the slightly inferior model worth the £179 saving ?

I know the "S" is supposed to be faster, better battery life, and has the different camera, but even the camera/video i wouldn't be that bothered about.

Any opinions ?

I would be tempted to wait 3 of months to see if a new 4G model comes out.

If you can pick a faulty phone up cheap Apple will replace it for a like4like model for £139 with 3 months warranty.

Also 02 tend to do some good deals on a 12month for less than £20 per month.

Out of those 2? A 3GS every time... However, It may be worth waiting 2 or 3 months as it is likely a new model will come out and all the prices will move downwards...

I'm waiting til then before deciding what to go for next as my 3G is struggling now with some of the more CPU intensive apps that are out...

HTC Legend and Desire (Android phones) look good though, I have to admit

The guy i sit next to at work is getting his Sony X10 tomorrow, i may see what that's like, before commiting to anything.

Ah the calling from Android is strong! ;)

HTC Hero is looking pretty good too. £25/m with internet etc

To be honest, I'm thinking of a SIM free phone and SIM only plan from one of the networks... At least then, if I like the look of one of the other networks tariffs i can change easily... Almost did that when I got the iPhone and have wished several times that I did since...

I know the phone looks expensive that way, but the SIM only plans are generally £10-15 a month cheaper and over 18 months there's not a lot in the overall price on a lot of the phones...

I'm missing my gadget fix!!! My personal life has got quite messy and expensive recently and I'm not used to not buying a new gadget that I don't actually need every couple of months....

I think i'd either wait to see what this years iphone will have or if you can't wait go for the 3GS.

My mate has a 3G and i have a 3GS. We both have an air hockey app and the pocket god app..... We sat the phones next to each other and started the same app at the same time on both phones and the 3GS was around half the time opening the apps. Even my mate was suprised how much faster the 3GS was over the 3G.

Cheers

Dave.
