Remove engine light bulb from dash?

Featured Replies

Hello is it possible to remove the engine management bulb from the dashboard on a 04 octavia vrs, would there be any side effects? Needs to be done as the de cat on the exhaust keeps putting the light on.

You could just have the map changed to remove the secondary cat diagnostics?

Yes, but it means taking the dash apart and losing other CEL warnings; you'd be better getting someone with VCDS to programme it out.

Mine wasn't working when i got the car so took dash apart to put new bulb in but found it to be a L.E.D which has been snapped off, get it mapped out then at least you will still have some sort of warning sign if things go wrong. Check my car regularly with code reader in case anything crops up.

VCDS cannot remove it, it is part of the map.

So it would be something done as part of a remap then? Not something you can modify within the standard map that's on the car?

I see you did it for Rob with his SAI pump and O2 sensor CEL. Pretty handy!
