Insurance Quote

Featured Replies

Got my insurance quote from my current insurance company and it was £450, I am 34yr , clean license,no mods ( 1.9 TDI estate ) and been driving for 15 yrs, last year it was £370. I thought when I get older it would come down not go sky high. Checked a few quote online and some are for £600-700????, went to confuse.com and my current insurance company was the cheapest at £380 but I want to be cheaper. Anyone the same age have the same problem??.

mine was £295 last yr before the mods..

Who are you with.

Depending on what part of Bradford the easiest way to reduce insurance significantly is no doubt to move elsewhere :(

Am 35 and just got my renewal through, similarly it's about £450, nearly £100 pound more that last year. Need to do some hunting around. This happened last year, I spoke to the company saying that I'm going to go with someone else and low and behold they matched it straight away, it really irritated me how much they think they can get away with as a lot of people will just pay it without shopping around. Will let you know what deal I find...

My insurance quotes nearly always go up significantly at renewal time so I just shop around and change, and normally end up paying roughly the same each year. It's madness really, why can't they just give me a decent renewal price as a loyal customer instead of forcing me to change each time?

You can also make big impacts on your premium by playing around with the excess, courtesy car, legal protection, no claims protection, etc.

Mine came in at £460 a year standard as a second car. Which is more than the price last year for in being modifidy!! To be fair I've had trouble gettin a good price for insurance on both cars. The rear end shunt last year is to blame even though it was not my fault.

Basically both cars have increased by nearly £150 from last year. I too thought insurance went down if as you get older (I'm paying more now than when I was 25!)

So if I understand this right the person who's fault it is has to pay extra and the person who's fault it is not has to pay extra............its win win win win win for the insurance company as usual!

Pfft you guys... I dream of paying £450 for my insurance! Currently paying £730 for mine :( 3 years no claims, am 25

The answer is ... Get better training!

I am a driving instructor, my school car is insured for ANY driver over 17, (With me or) any other instructor. Any other instructor, PLUS anyone over 25 with full licence. Costs me around 300 smackers!

I live in Bradford 6, this is mostly a nice area unfortunately a council estate is a stone throw away from my house. The estate use to be awful ( The Rita ,Sue And Bob Too estate ) but the last 10 yrs it has been transformed.

Try Admiral, my renewal came through on my ibiza fr tdi130 at £450 with marks and spencers. contacted admiral direct on the 0800 number and got my policy for £253 fully comp protected no claims and legal aid etc no breakdown cover though as i have it elsewhere. I'm 35 with 9 years ncb. no mods.

I use elephant and with all mods declared and NCB protected it came out as £303. I'm 29 and have had my own insurance since i passed at 17. Thats on a modded fabia Vrs

The highest figure you quote is about a third of mine! emoticon-0106-crying.gif

I've heard several things saying that insurances prices in general are on the rise, so while you may have an extra years NCB etc, if prices are going up XX% then chances are yours will go up too I guess. I don't have any sources for this, but a rise of 20% springs to mind for some reason. Sounds like polocopue maybe suffering from this a bit too.

I've found Admiral to be the cheapest so far, or elephant although they don't have/offer legal protection.

Im 35, and found my renewal price to be sky high too. I ended up going with Aviva, got 2 months free and full breakdown for cheaper than my renewal quote. Then bought it through topcashback and will get £75 back by going through them.

Hope this helps a wee bit

Graeme

I went with my renewal from DirectLine for £285 (after a bit of haggling) on my vRS. Aviva was marginally cheaper, but it's getting difficult to actually compare like-for-like on policies as different companies have different options and different terms and conditions. I couldn't be bothered with reading all through the small print and then finding out that by the time I actually had the cover I wanted it was going to work out more expensive, so I stuck with my current company. I could have got it about £50 cheaper, but that would mean ditching the protected no claims and guaranteed hire car. Again, you have to ask yourself if you're prepared to risk it. If you do need to claim then it's a false economy.

That's mad! I just renewed at £460 for the year with 3 points and i'm <25.

Location and job seemed to bring the quotes down a fair bit.

My insurance premium was £500 for my 1.9TDI hatchback (100bhp tdi), I valued the car at £2500 I think, and I'm 32 with 4points.

I pay £500 for my 2003 Golf R32, which is significantly FASTER, potentially worth 3times more than the little Fabia.. What group is the Golf ? Group 18???

I went through hours of Compare.com, moneysupermarket.com and all that jazz.

I still reckon car insurance is a joke, they all make it up as they go along in my opinion

I've just received my renewal from adrianflux for the fabia vRS and its £700!! am 24yrs old will have 6yrs ncb and 3points! 1 claim not at fault!! Am really shocked last year I was only paying £530 on my old ibiza cupra 20v turbo!!

you all tried the site sponsors? I'm with Chris Knott, 30 yrs old 3 points on license, 5yrs no claims, all mods declared in sig and I paid about £400. My insurance is due this summer so will be interested to see what happens then.

I Live in East London, Im 39 Year old. My insurance goes up every Year, but after loads of quotes and haggling, and a lot of time

I can normally get the price down.

This Year on my 56 plate Fabia 1.9 TDI Hatch, i insured with aviva for £270

I have full N.C.B (22 Years) protected, standard car, with 10,000 Mile limit.

Daft thing is i also have a 600cc Kawasaki ninja, which is rather rapid, that costs me £135 fully comp!

Half the price of the car to insure.

It's partly due to the car insurance group changes - with there being more groups now, it allows insurance companies to put their prices up if a car is consiodered to be in a higer group..

Adrianflux told me out of 1-20 the fabia vRS is group 9!! But they use the 1-50 and the fabia vRS is group 18!!!

Which is actually a decrease in group-rating... B)

To get cheap car insurance, use the comparison website or "screen scrapers" as Martin Lewis calls them. Confused.com, Gocompare, money supermarket and the Meercat one. MSE - Cheap Car Insurance This also give you other tips for lowering the price.

In January I paid about £400 for mine (04 vRS) through eSure (best on Confused).

I went through comparethemarket.com and got a best price of £350 fully comprehensive on my 05 FabVrs...

I used moneysupermarket.com last year to get the best price so I'd agree with Jim H and try more than one comparison site!

BTW Admiral got me the best price with everything that I wanted on the policy! ;)
