DSG gearknob

Featured Replies

Has anybody managed to replace the standard DSG gearknob with one fo the more slimline, manual liek ones found on the likes of BMW auto's or Insignia's.

Is it even possible?

Keep it, makes for a great chat up line:

"Would you like to buff my great big shiny DSG knob ?"

no, its horrid. The golf r32 has a much smaller, better one. Just need to try and find part numbers and see if it can be retrofitted (if it doesn't cost as much as the car itself)

thats the one. much more like a normal gear stick. I just find the level on the vRS box not very ergonomic and not great for use in tiptronic mode

Haven't tried tiptronic yet, I use the paddles.

I would have though it was possible but its not like a normal gearknob change and it is rather expensive! I did make a comment ages ago about this as I rather like the Audi S-line shifter!

I think its a few hundred for the shifter.

I've also been looking at changing my DSG gearknob and found this

A bit pricey at $380. Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that it's a bit pricey at $380 ;) Also doesn't look any better than standard, in facts, looks a bit toylike.

Its better than the original, but at $380 its a tad pricey. I was hoping just the actual knob part could be changed

All depends whether or not you like the feel of dimpled balls I suppose :giggle:

I'll stick with the original thanks

Nothing wrong with the original in my opinion.

But if you dont like it.......

I really like the vw r32 one, but not the dimpled one!

I've just seen on the skoda website the sneak peek of the Fabia vRS, looks like its going to have a smaller DSG shifter, much more like some of the alternatives listed above. it might be worth keeping an eye on that

You mean like this one...
